  • Middle muffler

Thinking of how i can get a little bit of extra noise without having to take out a 58 month loan for branded exhausts.

Im thinking of having the middle muffler removed.
Is there any use in this, or is the middle muffler not much of a noise restriction?

Then ill just get the standard exhaust tips removed, and get some beefier ones in the same style. I think the Golf GTI's tips are bigger, might buy some through our spare parts dep.

    Do it.

You get a louder car. And more performance.

Shouldnt cost you anymore then 40-50max.

kai, you forgot to mention that without a middle muffler - he'll be blowing flames out the exhaust, worth noting I reckon

            Alright,

Im going to do it, im going to do it properly though. Im going to get them to weld a couple flanges onto the pipe and also onto each side of the middle muffler.

So that if down the track i want it to be quiet(ish) again i can put the muffler back in by unbolting the pipe and bolting in the muffler.

It will cost me another 50 bucks or so, but that doesnt matter.

            Thanks for the advice guys,

Nice idea. I have seen kits done to completely remove the mufflers for "race days", never really thought of it as a middle muffler option, but it really sounds like a great idea. Also means you can take your Polo back to "stock" if you ever sell it.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Middle muffler is different to the cat

Take the cat out and you get flames.

                  Also...

Would be good to have a flange on there for the days you want to remove the exhaust completely.
