  • Fastest polo in Aus

ok guys the only disclaimer i need on that title is as of the 23/05/2012

so this is the start of my build thread as I finally reached a very important goal for all polo owners to aim out

    Yes thats a 13sec pass

So a few of the originals on here will understand why that time is important and here is a few posts i found to explain why.

Now Timbo's post was one of a few that stated there is no way a Polo without trickery i.e LSD/Slicks on a k03 can make a 13 sec pass

And Kai's time while a sub 14 was run on semi slicks, even considering that I still managed to beat it so pretty chuffed at the moment.

Now I do expect and demand this time be beaten by a couple of people on here(Yes Vwthunder and vwindahouse. I am specifically calling you 2 out)

But as of now you are looking at the owner/driver of the fastest polo in Australia

I will further update this thread and probably have to change the title in the coming weeks but I am going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Have you had it on the Dyno, how much power are you making.

Im not really interested in doing quarter mile etc, or i would have bought a commonwhore lol.
In saying that i better get my ass into gear and get out to calder and see how fast i can get it down the quarter

yes you better troy and no idea on dyno to be honest I dont really care about the dyno all that proves is power not speed etc and its a extremley variable topic, noone anywhere can argue/modify a set time thats why I like it.

Thanks man you dont know how long I have been trying, and yes this sounds like an ad cause it kinda is but the difference was moving to custom code, apr was fine but boy oh boy the little extra tuning for all the custom stuff I have has paid dividends.

---------- Post added at 11:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:21 PM ----------

Ok so now for the history lesson But first there are 2 people who really need to be thanked enourmously for this time one would be Jmac for the time spent fixing the car and previous shall we say errors made on the car The other is Gavin from Custom Code for the awesome tune.

Also To VwIndahouse thanks for always encourging me to go for it Your polo has always been an aspiration, and I am so glad you didnt come out tonight or else I wouldnt be able to put the title up

So I bought this car as a demo in 2006 and from day dot have never had it stock as I stupidly i.e probably got ripped by the deal by telling them to chip it/ first cat back zaust while I was o/s

Now I know i have made alot of mistakes in building this car but to me it was half the fun.

First any Qld member who has been on a cruise with me between 06 and 11 would remember that god awful cannon I had, I have now swapped it for a muffler from Custom Exhaust in Brisbane and couldnt be happier

I think that and the cat back from the dealer where the 2 biggest mistakes I made,

Since then I am running a custom ebay Front mount (dont ask for the link but I think it was a godspeed cooler)
              Custom Code Tune
              Forge TIP
              Forge intercooler hose
Forge DV008 (this mod alone added 3 psi) and i now need a new boost gauge cause 1.5bar aint enough lol
Seat Air Intake (To be changed shortly when I buy a smaller batter)
              Forge Front strut bar
              Whiteline front/rear swaybars
              VWmaxx coilovers
2.5 inch custom turbo back exhaust with a high flow cat
s3 front calipers with slotted pads

and what I truely believe has helped the most is Toyo Proxes 4's on 16" rims for being secretive I am not going to say what I launched at and how but let me say there was no wheel spin/bog down

I am pretty sure thats all the mods mechanically wise that has been done but I don't think thats the end of it as now I believe I have at least a 13.7 with some weight redution still available

So i can come on soon and say "Most Powerfull Polo in Aus" lol.
Power does matter, if your running that quick, im guessing your power numbers are quite high. List of Mods??

You can say that Troy all I am saying with that is every dyno records differently which is why there is always arguements on power figures but I cannot adjust/change how times are recorded

2 questions if you dont mind:
                    1. what spring/ shims are you using on your 008, and
                    2. when are you migrating to a larger turbo

using just the yellow spring no shims
as for larger turbo been thinking alot about it but I now want to see how low Ican get with a k03

Ooh, now there's a challenge - anyone in mind who'll front up? The APR car, I'm guessing but does that have fewer mods?

Tyre diameter/profile shouldn't have any effect in a drag except for weight (taller profile/smaller wheel is probably lighter) as long as the widths are the same. The impressive thing is that the Proxes 4's that Jason used have a UTQG wear rating of 300!!

vwthunder, if you can be bothered changing your brakes back to stock for a drag run, you can borrow my 15" Team Dynamics with the Advan semi slicks for the fronts and get 2 space savers for the rears.

Eddy has run his down the quarter before and while I know he could beat me he has always had problems on previous runs.

the thing it defintley does help with is when running 25psi it gives me alot more contact patch
