At my last service they put in Liqui Moly Top Tec 4100 5 W-40



Prior to that it had Castrol Edge Sport 0W-40W

I use Castrol Edge Titanium 5w-30, changing oil and filter every 5000-7500. Cheap insurance.

VW 502/505 and 504/507 requires that the HTHS value be 3.5 or higher.

By definition, any oil that meets ACEA A1/B1 or A5/B5 has a HTHS value less than 3.5 - so that oil is a no go.

If you want to use Liqui Moly, stick with these:

LEICHTLAUF SPECIAL LL 5W-30
TOP TEC 4100 5W-40
TOP TEC 4200 5W-30

If you drive on dirt roads,(ever notice how dirty the engine bay gets?) that is one reason for early turbo failure.I know of one case where dealer came to the party even shortly after warranty expired.The owners had 10 KLMs of dirt road every commute from home.
