Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Custom Down Pipes

    Hey Guys!

In the process of getting a custom down pipe made! from a excellent fabricator and good mate,
if i can get dyno charts of before and after proving its gain of power and torque ,
would people be interested in taking one of his hands as we are thinking about making a few extra for some of the guys we know that don't want to pay for a milltek or APR's prices!

    Cheers Matty.

    Hi,
I would definitely have been interested, but I have recently ordered one.
It would however be great to see what gains your mate can get from the DP.

I might just be interested in talking to your mate (as might a few other people) since there isn't an off the shelf down pipe available for the Golf 6 1.4 Twincharged engine which only leaves custom options.

There is an old thread here: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...i-63890-2.html

Where some of the issues were mentioned.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Similar to Mr Hawk. Although I'd rather see him try it out first before deciding
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

How about a full exhaust instead?
I'd be interested in a price on that...

                    That sounds very interesting...

Who are you getting to do it anyway? Someone local (to Campbelltown?)?

Not sure mate, it would have to be well priced for me to be interested.

I'm not be expecting big gains, but it would be a nice addition

Even just the front section and mufflerectomy would likely do most of the work, stock exhaust measures up pretty well, but it would be nice to get a better sound and open up the flow more.

Are you getting him to make a fmic as well?

If you have seen me you couldn't miss me, neither of the vehicles are particularly subtle

We have a current gen Salsa Red Multivan (Kombi) for the family mover:

And I'm driving a Night Blue Golf 6 Cabriolet:

Both have large VWWatercooled stickers on the back too

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
