  • Headlight low/main beam problem

    Hi Guru's,

I've got a problem with my main beam (some call low beam) headlights where they have begun to take a random time to turn on.

It used to be a couple of seconds delay, then about 10, 20, 30 seconds, now they can take much longer.

I haven't done any physical inspections yet (just tried searching forums), but has anyone seen this type of behavior before?
If it was a fuse I thought it would just stop working all together, if it was the bulbs I wasn't expecting them to both be misbehaving.

    I have a 2006 Polo GTI 9N

    Thanks in advance!

My electrician mate reckons it's likely a relay.
Anyone know where I can get a Polo GTI parts list or electrical wiring schematic?

Your not running a HID kit are you?

Standard Halogen is instant, but HID can have a delay and also takes time to "warm up"

Both my low beam globes went out together

I just replaced them and they've been sweet ever since

Just dropped into see Matt at Camden GTI Campbelltown - he fixed it on the spot!

Turned out I had a faulty switch, Matt was able to plug in a spare he had and it fixed it straight away. Must've been a faulty relay.

Brand new switch from VW was around $200, Matt fitted a spare he had for less than half that - thanks!!

Nope - just running stock - thanks for the suggestion though!

Amazing how they can both go out within such a close time of each other
