I was talking to a mechanic today about the Forge TIP install and he commented that the pipe squashes up against that water coolant pipe that you have to loosen the screw to move. I have never heard anyone comment about the pipe resting against this water pipe.
Has anyone had any issues or does anyone see any issues with the TIP resting against the water pipe?
Never had an issue with it after I installed it, only during the install when I had to loosen the coolant pipes, and had a bit of trouble when I had to put the screw back in(its just at an odd angle to see and try and get the screw in).
I hav done this job twice...The first time took me 3 hours to do the job myself, while the second time took about 1.5 hours with basic tools(multi grips, pliers, 13mm socket, 3/8 drive ratchet and medium extension, 5 and 8mm Allen keys, flat and phillips head screw drivers).

Thanks fellas. I was thinking if it was an issue then someone would have mentioned it. Apparantly the TIP squashes in a bit? Obviosuly thats not a problem?

Also just in regards to tools needed I was under the impression there was really only those 2 allen/hex head screws that need to be removed/loosened? I just read Blitzen you mentioned something about transmission cables? Not sure if anyone else has mentioned those. Is this what you need the 13mm socket and 3/8 drive ratchet for?

Did anyone get around to do a step-by-step guide per chance? I found someone did one for a golf mk4 on another forum which looks pretty good. Looks like a very similar precedure.

Thanks again guys. Appreciated. The more knowledge the better I reckon.

In regards to the transmission cables, I moved those so I had more room to fit the TIP into position...This is what the 13mm socket was for, as there are 3 bolts for the cable guides, plus this is also for the airbox bolts.
There is also an 8mm allen screw that need removing to allow for the movement of the coolant pipes...trust me when I say you need all of the free room you can get to fit the TIP in.

This is from where I fitted my TIP...

That was a good thread and some great pics. Whilst we are on the subject how do you find the intercooler to throttle body forge pipe? Noticed any difference in the way the intercooler performs? I am thinking perhaps cooler temps if ever so slight? Power gains/better acceleration?

            Cheers

I did both at the same time, so I didn't notice much out of the I/C to Throttle Body pipe. It is alot stiffer than the stock pipe, and it goes well to make the engine bay look netter(in my opinion) too. That jobe to replace that I/C hose literally takes 2 min to do...all you need are multi grips and a flit tip screw driver.

exactly; squashed like that! So that's what it looks like when the job is done. Thats not too bad. No one ever mentions it as a problem so I am thinking its obviosuly a non issue.

Does anyone know where the write up installation for this is? I remember seeing it somewhere but cannot locate it while searching.

                    Thanks

If you attack it on a weekend, let me know and I may be able to assist.

I'm not great at it, but I've been there...

Urgent: I am downstairs trying to install the TIP and it's the biggest B*** ever. I need someone to contact me as I'm having trouble, and work is tmw.

                        Can someone please help me!!

I have removed the airbox and all the necessary hoses, but the coolant line, the metal part is not allowing me to push in the pipe in. It's too restrictive, hell I don't even know how one person can do this on their own. I honestly give them credit!

Update: I FAILED. I hold the record for the longest Forge TIP install - ever.
