Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Yeah mate you need to get the clamps before you start. A few posts up i have got a full list of the clamps you need. And it's also posted in the faq thread. Personally it's more fidily the dificult. The 2 tricks I was told was to use soapy water as lubricant when putting the TIP on the turbo as when it dries it won't leave any residue. And the second was to undo the water pipe running along the side of the motor, it's an allen screw. Sorry I don't have any pics. And this gives you a tiny bit of leverage. Other then that take your time. Its not tooooo dificult

i may not own a polo gti but i do own 2 mk4 gti's both chipped and everything else but exhaust.

Doing the Samco TIP on my GTI made a difference, but once installed the Thermal power gasket on the intake manifold. That is where it really made a difference. Car is getting alot cooler air intake temp and car pulls really well.

the Girlfriends GTI has Full Forge TIP and all intercooler hose kit. Also made a good difference. But now still need to do the thermal intake gasket on her car.

Hey Shane, why can't you use the old clamps that came with the car on the new TIP? I'm just curious cos thats what I was going to do when I got the TIP.

Mate not sure if they all will fit. Im 99% positive the clamp that holds the TIP to the Airbox wont fit. And personally i would prefer to replace them just for piece of mind. And as i havent tried it myself im not going to tell anyone else to just in case. And for $10-$15 i know what i would do.

I know none of the ones i have done have been single use only............ Try it and let us know.

Yeah It sounds like it would be ok. And yes you are right it does look big but once it goes over the air box it's different. You'll see what I mean.

                    3rd times a charm??

I was too lazy to do it myself.... esp after all the write ups, I just got someone else 2 do it.

                    Good Luck.

                      Hahaha...

i think i m too weak, i got small hands and skinny arms, so getting there is not a big issue, but seems that they are not enough space for me to use force to get it out...

Told me 4 hrs and finally got it!!!!

I end up took out the whole gear box to pull the thing from the side!

One thing i noticed is the hose is so fat, it now pushed 2 stainless steel cables down a bit, what cables are they? Does it matter to leave them bended?

The induction and turbo spining noise is much louder!!!

Car is more willing to rev and better top end, also noticed that intake temp have drop!!

Forgot to mention i did the seat intake at the same time!

I just wonder if I can bring up this topic again?

I was talking to a mechanic today about the Forge TIP install and he commented that the pipe squashes up against that water coolant pipe that you have to loosen the screw to move. I have never heard anyone comment about the pipe resting against this water pipe.
Has anyone had any issues or does anyone see any issues with the TIP resting against the water pipe?
