Fellas,
have been noticing lately that the only people I see out driving GTI's are old women! Anyone else notice this? Pulled up next to an identical one in Brunswick at the lights last night and thought, "great, a fellow enthusiast"
wrong.
Family of four.
This morning in North Melbourne - old woman who pedalled it off the line. I even stopped to listen to the exhaust note (which was a non event).
I'm praying i see someone DRIVING their GTI soon.

Yeah, the local Pog GTI's are owned by 1 young guy and 2 old ladies.

I bought my car off an old lady, I guess if you want a distinctly masculine car you should get a HSV or FPV... maybe a ute, but then again if you see a woman driving one will you feel emasculated?

Someone try to explain to me why a car that didn't sell in large numbers that is aimed at a particular demographic isn't being driven by that targeted audience?

The same thing happens with the countless Golf GTI's out there.

Yes, i'm thankful my pogo was previously owned by a middle aged woman but i'm absolutely dumbfounded as to why I haven't seen any younger people driving them like myself?

I'm glad that i'm not one of the infinite confalcodore owners out there and I feel as though i'm in on a good thing with the VW, I just wish I could observe that in another owner out there.

I've got no problem with a girl driving such a car, so long as it's the way it was designed to be.
It seems QLD is the natural habitat of the GTI, perhaps Melbourne is a bit light on

Check the banners guys, that's all I want. Wouldn't have a problem with the age or gender of the driver so long as you could see the enjoyment on their faces. They're not commuting, they're driving.

I've noticed the same thing dude. Having said that though, there is an older dude with a GTI in the same colour as mine, with close numberplates, who I drive past all the time, and I'm sure he looks at my car.

Keep an eye out for me (totally stock silver GTI with a Deadmau5 sticker and Demons sticker), I live in Templestowe so close to your area

Why: good safety, compact, looks good. They are also easy to drive.

Untuned they are a nice easy drive, with some work they become hardened.

One of the few VW fans I knew before VWW also lives in Templestowe, older guy, drives a Caddy, loves it to bits. That tdi in his really shuffles.
Perhaps i'm being overly idealistic, but a colleague of mine drives a Nissan 300ZX (1990), now i'm not a big fan of these cars but one thing i'm extremely jealous of is that whenever one 300ZX passes another one the owners acknowledge each other. This is awesome. When ever I drive past/near/next to another GTI there's absolutely nothing, as if they don't even realise what they're driving.

On another note I also am a Dees supporter, may sticker up too as I've got a (relatively) stock appearing red gti, should suit. Heading in to the 'G on Sunday?

I see alot of women driving Golf GTIs too, and WRXs, STIs, the lot.

As noone said: Why: good safety, compact, looks good. They are also easy to drive.

I see more guys driving the Poli GTI's for what I think is because they're more performance orientated. I see more females driving Golfs because their partners want something performance orientated while she gets the leather, sunroof, climate control, Sat-Nav etc.

The stark reality is that the body shape of the Polo 9N(3) is pretty plain, even dumpy. No body kit that doesn't cover up to the window sills is going to change that so a lot of macho, rev heads won't even consider the GTi, especially as it isn't a class leader in dynamics or power.

The good news for the smart, young buyer is that lots of great condition, unhacked GTi's will become available as the middle aged lady drivers run out their lease.

Just enjoy the fact that you have a great, reliable, good performing and fun car (and that you have the taste and foresight to see past the looks).

When i drive around i don't want to see stupid rev heads and idiot drivers hooning around in polo GTis. I am a P-Plater but i took a defensive driving course, I actually had over 120hrs of practice before i sat my Ps. I drive fast but i keep to the rules of the road. I like that i never get pulled over by cops and after going through over 15 booze buses, every time i have been waved on (possibly my super power x])

Bflat. I have a red Polo Gti and i live down in Bulleen. There aren't actually that many Pogs around us but i do see 2 very similar silver pogs =P i try to give them a wave if i see them in time. I'm very jealous of my friend who rides a bike as they signal too each other no matter what type of bike they ride. It just seems so nice that they are mainly enthusiasts and its so simple and friendly.

Ill try to look out for the red Polo GTi with the R:. badge haha
