it is roomier - although specs on the ford say it is 3.5cm wider. especially front passenger, the room for the legs seem to be much more substantial. driver comfort rates higher too, the seats are more comfortable and u sink in alot nicer than in the ford.
quality wise the ford just doesnt surpass that of the gti...
trade in wise - my dad seems to think i wont be able to sell the car that easily, but i seem to think i would be able too.. liverpool VW should be contacting me soon in regards to a test drive and car evaluation. Once a dealership has valued your car, does it go on a central database, cos itd be interesting to see what they value the car for..
denlo parramatta said when it comes to buying if there isnt a car on hand it would be a 5 month wait. is that usual waiting time for a polo??
also can anyone shed some light on servicing whether its with sebs or through dealership, avg prices, and what the major service entails. it would be greatly appreciated!!
ta guys
Lora

Hey MissVuks , I'm getting my polo from Denlo Parra (hopefully in 2-3 week's time), and I have had to wait 5 months. I was told the same time frame by McGrath Sutherland and VW FiveDock so I guess that's about right.
I traded in a Hyundai Getz, 1 y.o. 24000km. Only got $10k for it, but at McGrath, they valued it t $8.5k, so you can shop around a bit. When I ordered my car at Denlo, I had the option of selling my Getz privately or trade it in for $10k at any time.sigpic

so say for instance you get the car ordered for you and it's going to take 5 months, how much of a deposit do you need to pay and also while your waiting for the car can u sell it in that period, and if you dont manage to sell it can u trade in upon delivery of the car??

I paid $400. I think they usually take a bit more, but on the day I didn't have enough cash.Originally posted by MissVuks View Postso say for instance you get the car ordered for you and it's going to take 5 months, how much of a deposit do you need to pay and also while your waiting for the car can u sell it in that period, and if you dont manage to sell it can u trade in upon delivery of the car??
So for me, what happened was they valued the car, (at the time was only 8 months old and 16000km), and basically said I can trade it in whenever, and I may also choose to sell it myself. If I decide to trade it in, it will be worth $10000.sigpic

Depends. If you are after a specific colour and specification, you might find that colour and spec is not available at the January sales because they are usually end of year stock.
Also, whilst they are cheaper, you are getting an MY07 vehicle in 2008, so it is also worth less up front.
So there are advantages and disadvantages in going each way - but once your heart is set on a car, six months is an awfully long wait before even nailing the deal. I waited one month for mine and that was too long for me.NickZ

Im paying $1750 with mods for 22y/o
I managed to score a demo with 100km on it, could of had it in 3 days... but needed to save up a bit
- the wait nearly killed me.

trade in
I got $6,500 trade in for my 01 Barina, manual - had few dings in it and definately needed new brake pads and discs. Hope this helpsOriginally posted by MissVuks View Postit was very tight around the corners - very grippy car but my hearts sold..
they also valued my barina at 6k for a trade in, what are your thoughts on that price??

we'll see what liverpool values my barina for a trade in.
my boyf and i also discussed perhaps selling his car - 97 celica. has a few dings it in, he reckons if he puts it for sale for about 7-8k he should be able to get rid of it. Then pass the barina onto him, cos hes a struggling uni student LOL (i dont miss that for one sec) then give me the proceeds of the sale and keep for himself the remainder of whatever the trade in was valued at.
thats just another possibility thats been thrown up in the air..
