  • What does this button do?

Anybody know what the button on the side of the plastic trim behind the drivers seat at about knee level does. Looks like it is for proximity type of switch but can't find it in the manual at all?

It disables the motion detection sensors of the alarm - so the alarm wont start if you close the car and you have your dog in it for example )

Now you can safely lock your child/pet with the windows up in 40 degree heat without having the alarm go off! VW thought of everything

you have to press that button every time you lock the car, as when you unlock the car it automatically turns the motion sensors back on next time the car is locked, think its for insurance reasons............vwtech

If you don't have that button - you can just press the lock button on your remote twice - and this will lock the car but will live the alarm disarmed.

Really? I know lots of people who will press the lock button multiple times... just to be sure. Or is it a "double press" in a certain time rather than just two presses?

As for the motion disably button... We knew it was there but didn't think we actually had an alarm... until it went off for the first time.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

You have to press it quickly ("double click") - the same way you do when you press the unlock button and want all the doors to be unlocked, not just the driver's door.

Which is why I've set mine to beep to confirm the alarm has been armed!

Interesting. If you have the car locked with the windows down, sticking my arm in the car is enough to set the alarm off. Very loud in my car park...

Double-clicking "lock" on the remote doesn't do anything - alarm is still armed... hmm
