The CD player/stereo display has stopped working this morning. tried turning it on and off many times and still no luck. Its happened before, but turning off and on has fixed it, this time hasn't worked.
I know it's a common fault from what I've seen.
Anyone found a remedy without booking it in to the service centre??
UPDATE: fixed at the moment - after some light pushing on the plastic surround it came back again.

Took car to the dealer this morning, the oil leak was just the underbody protective wax stuff melting, melbourne's heatwave would have contributed to this.
They fixed the cupholder
They lubricated the driver's door seal, seemed to get rid of the creaks while driving, but coming up the bumpy laneway back to work, the door was creaking like a MF. Sounds like it's gonna fall apart. I guess I have to live with it, my expectations of quality must be too high!
Not sure if this is happening to anyone else but when I normally start the car to warm up it revs around 1000rpm and then I hear a tick / click and it drops to 800rpm. It does it a few times, does anyone know what it could be? BTW this also happened before I reflashed the ECU.

Mine's done a few weird things, like jerked crusing at 100km. I thought it was just the boost but when I tried to replicate the same thing it didn't do it. Another time I've let it idle and it reved an extra 500rpm for no apparent reason and then went back to normal. Left me scratching my head.
Now every now and again I'm getting a low whistling sound. Can't really isolate it cause it comes and goes not sure what it could be?
I had the engine coolant warning light come on the other day so I topped up the resevoir with about 100mls of distilled water.
3 days later the warning light came back on so I took it to Kloster VW yesterday and they found a small crack in the radiator.
New one should be in mid next week.
At least I still have 5 months left of my warranty.
ahhh there are so many people with cracked Radiators. I need to get mine replaced outside of warranty after it's already been done once. I might see if VW can acknowledge a problem and replace mine as a known fault. Wish me luck.
I would wish you luck but I just shelled out $300 for a new radiator due to the same issue.... I tried to push the known fault angle as well to no avail.
Are there any aftermarket radiators for these cars? Not going to need one for hopefully a couple years now but if its going to keep happening might be worth replacing properly next time (and I am certain there will be a next time)
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting

Well I have a contact at VWA who said if you can show the service center that it's failed in the same spot as the other one then they should warrant it as an existing fault. So if I get no love from the service center I'll give him a call
As for aftermarket, do a search on here. There was someone that had looked into and it was almost $900, you can buy 3 VW ones for that price so I don't think there is much point.

CAR USAGE - Daily, short drive to work
Problem: Whilst driving along, power is removed momentarily to all electrical systems affecting the Radio, Power Steering, ESP, ABS etc. When the power comes back on, not all electrical systems necessarily work (eg No power steering or ESP switched off and cannot be turned back on. In both cases switching the ignition off and on again fixes the problem ... until the next time).
The problem often seems to happen turning right, and the last time the problem was fixed, I believe they found some points to the power steering were loose.
Just happened again and this will be the 6th time that I have returned the car for the same fault.
I am in Adelaide, and getting the dealer to look at it ... there is only 1 VW dealer in Adelaide.
Anyone else who has had similar issues ...
Thanks
Im having the same issues
has happened a few times to me so far. Will book my car in soon..

Did they manage to get this sorted eventually??
Thanks
Mine is having the exact same troubles.
I contacted the same member on here who remarked about the battery condition. Funny as the dealer replaced my battery when I bought mine (second hand) so there seems a relationship. Possibly the ECU sees this fault as a dud battery and masks the true fault?
let me know what the dealer says regarding a possible solution.
I'm putting up with it for now as it's intermittent and i doubt they will find anything.
