Well, you better start saving, because if we take this quote from the press release as literal, it comes as standard with 225/45R17 tyres!
Finally, a set of 17-inch wheels identical to those fitted to the Golf GTI are fitted along with a set of red brake callipers.
I guess the only question would be whether Australia will offer both 3 and 5dr, or just the 3dr.

However almost everyone is heading towards auto only so i guess it was inevitable.
How is it an issue? The DSG shifts faster, and is more livable for most people.

Sure, I love a manual box too... but I find the dual-clutch boxes so much nicer to live with, even in the more ball tearing sports cars.

        I prefer to drive manual.
Sure this one is the dry-clutch version which doesn't require the expensive maintenance but it is still ana auto, which pushes the price up another 2-2.5k and will cost more to fix if it goes wrong.

There are a lot of people who prefer to drive manual as well which rules this out for them.

But It is almost impossible to get a manual euro car anymore so i guess this is just conforming.

Not going to be upgrading to one of these, not a huge fan of the styling.
6kg lighter, not much, but 22kw more. I'm a fan and will be v. jealous when I see them on the road 6l/100km is fantastic, I'm currently getting 9.6

Looks hot, but still not a fan of the rear tail lights though. This should be a cracker of a hatch when it's released.
              Current:
              2023 Mk2 Tiguan R - Lapiz Blue
              2015 Mk7 Golf R Wolfsburg - Limestone Grey: Stage 2
Gone but not forgotten: 2008 Polo GTI Shadow Blue

Finally, HID lights on a Polo with LED DRL's as well, looks kinda similar to these as well

Now there's a legit reason to get those lights

But happy to keep the car for a few more years... performance is about the same - until they start to chip the new one anyway

Very nice! Definitely going to consider trading in my current Pog for one of these and then head straight to APR afterwards! (Once there is a tune available).

                    That looks bloody awesome!!!!!!!!
Depending on price, I might look at one of these for the missus when they come out (and a weekender for me )

It's only 6kgs lighter than the current one but that's with a much heavier gearbox. Having 7 gears would almost certainly mean that you will always be in peak power/torque.
                    Cheers,

                    John

Despite all my reservations on the new polo's styling, I have to say that the Gti looks fantastic!

Release date in Australia isn't till 2011 though is it?

:edit: Just saw the end of the article stating they'll be on sale before the year's end. Might have to start saving the pennies...
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting

Just saw this Polo and I .... jizzed in my pants.

Hard to tell from the pics, but if this thing has a better stance on the road than our current ones, then I'm sold --- oh and manual too. Yes, DSG is nice but I love my manuals.

                          Time to start saving!

The rear 3 quarter view definately looks a lot chunkier to me.. wider track?

I think I'm going to get something a little bigger next time, WRX/ S3/ Golf R maybe.. but I'll be keeping my polo for a few yrs yet. Looking forward to the bliss of a paid off car loan haha.

all i can say is WOW. bang for your buck, this car will kick AS$. DSG...

i don't know much about the chip...but getting it up to 150+kw will put it at the same power to weight ratio as the golf R.

i would take a wild stab and say its the same as the passat CC...looks cool, but tilt only...
