Can anyone give me a best guess as to when this new Polo Gti might be available here in AUS? I might be very interested if its before the end of the year and the price is competitively below the Golf Gti.

I'm not sure there has been any real indication of when it will be here MikeeR. Generally we'd get the standard models first, and then the GTI several months after.

The GTD and R are coming mid year. So if the Polo comes in the 2nd half of this year, the Polo GTI may not be here until next year...

The OP included a link which indicates for VWA that the Polo GTI will be on sale here before the end of the year.
        2015 White German SUV
        2013 White German hatch
        2011 Silver French hot hatch

          Indications dont mean much.

As the engine is borrowed, should not be too much there.

Timing will be very dependant on what else is in the market at the time, they may bring it forward to slay a lesser hatch, or delay it to avoid competition with cars considered more sporty.

I would not be surprised if it did not come this year.

Aah yes! I must've read the article before the update was placed there. That's good news for people who want the new one, and probably bad news for anyone who has a current generation Polo GTI who is waiting for the R to arrive and will need to sell their car with the new one's arrival impending or having just occured.

            Thanks Timbo

I wouldn't be surprised either, there's always delays when releasing new models.

Not sure if anyone has said it already, but there are no side vents the the SMIC. Less flow to the cooler for the new model?

The car is a step up from the current model size-wise, just feels a bit roomier/larger. The rear-light treatment a little on the dull side. Very similiar inside to the current car but with an improvement in quality. Unfortunately there was no GTI at that time for me to look at. Here is a pic I took, if it works, I never know how to get one on here!?
                    Thanks for that VEEDUB69

                      • Wow - this pedal position looks really awkward.... I hope it's just a bad camera angle or something....

                          • it's more that the accelerator looks too far to the right...
but again, could be the camera angle.

Maybe it will have a FMIC like the golf, in front of the radiator?

it looks a little too far right, but if think your right leg would rest against the centre console, the brake is straight ahead from your hip... Impossible to make any relevance from it since it's a left hand drive anyway.
