Here is a link to a South African website .... the pictures were taken near the VW factory in South Africa where the Polos are built. All Australian Polo's except for the 3dr GTI was built there ....and we can expect the new Polo's to come from there as well.

after reading that article (its in afrikaans) they have absolutely no clue about what that car really is - and also the new Polo bodyshape as just been launched last month here - that just looks like a standard 1.4 with a bodykit
they are speculating that the Polo GTI might use a 2 litre turbo like the golf 5 motors but that is plain wrong since we know that worldwide the Polo GTI will most likely use the 1.4TFSI turbo + supercharger engine from the Golf 6 range - so its all just speculation
the Polo GTI hasnt even been launched in Germany yet but the standard Polo's were launched there around 8 months back so dont expect any accurate news from SA based websites just yet on how a new Polo GTI will look since no-one really knows yet - these guys are adding 1+1 and getting 5 based on some car thats being driven about near the VW factory in PE yet the car pictured doesnt even have the foglights which are standard on every model above the 1.4
the TDI even though it doesnt look sportier has a different stance to the standard polo's ie the front looks like its been lowered a lot so its a bit more of a wedge stance. so to me this particlar model is a standard 1.4 with some type of bodykit and it isnt anything special it certainly is not the Polo GTI cos as ive said SA is around 8 months behind the rest of the world in regards to the Polo (and the Golf 6 too ... only the Golf 6 GTI made it here around 3 months after it was released - the standard Golf 6 took far longer cos the Golf 5 was a killer seller here and 40% of all golf 5's sold here were GTI's anyway)
heres a more likely look and probably a tad bit more accurate info than you will find on South African websites
http://blogs.timeslive.co.za/wheelde...-gti-for-2010/
http://www.4wheelsnews.com/new-vw-po...linder-engine/
though in the second URL i dont think its a very accurate picture and some of those power figures seem dodgy and in the first URL its only artist impression renderings but its more likely a look since it matches the changes made to the Golf 6 GTILast edited by naughty; 15-02-2010, 10:35 AM.

Still looks the goods to me.
The big lip was probably an aftermarket piece or a height determination piece to see if it has enough clearance.

whats wrong with the DSG - its a manual transmission as well - only you dont have to kick in a clutch pedal - you can use it in manual mode and change with the paddle shift on the steering column
thats also way quicker than a normal manual when you get used to it - i actually love the idea of the DSG
