  • Polo GTI - What's The Price Guide?

    Hi Fellas,

As per my inital post in the introduction section, I'm now at the stage of selling my Honda, and looking forward to a VW Polo GTI. I'm looking for models between 2006-2008, but now I'm leaning more towards the 2008 model, either with very low kms, or brand new/near new demo.

I've done some research on carsales, carpoint, various VW official dealership sites to compare prices etc, but I was thinking, what would be the very best reasonable price you would expect or negotiate at a dealership? Better yet, if you've purchased yours recently, can you please share your experience in terms of pricing etc.

Also, I'll be honest and admit I haven't researched thoroughly and compared the differences between the 2006-2008 models. I can't seem to find this information anywhere. (If someone could share a quick point form of the differences that would be greatly appreciated).

Overall, I'm leaning towards being set on a 2008 model. They're reasonably priced, there are still a few of them brand new and with very low kms.

    Thanks VW'ers!

I picked up a demo MY08 with less than a 1000kms on the clock for $23,888 driveaway from Burwin VW last September which I thought was a pretty good deal considering other dealers were asking for another 2-3 grand on top of that for cars that had more kms.

Thanks for that. Some dealers are asking $25,999 driveaway. What's the best you think I can bring this down to?

I'm thinking $23-23.5K as reasonable? Or should I go lower?

Dam the Polo GTIs are looking like a very good option when I get my full license in a few years, so cheap already!

Hm, may look at the 2006/7 models as well. Not really looking at modding to be honest, (OK, maybe the chip, but that's it!).

            Damn this bug.

You must have bought my car's brother! What colour is yours?

Just for the record, I bought a brand new MY08 from Burwin for $23888. Was the very last one they had at that price.

Haha fellas, I'm looking for a white one. I'm either black or white. I owned a black car, and I have to say, dirty, but best when waxed. White, something different! Maybe I'll need to look at the colours in person to appreciate them or not.

Also, my wheels from my current car is 5 stud 17" 7.5 114.3 (I think). What is the Polo GTI's?

                    Cheers guys.

                      Wheels are 5x100
                      7-8 width
35ish offset, the lower the better generally
Average tyre size in on factory wheel is 205-45-16, think as wide as 225 has been fitted with the right wheel/suspension combo.

Yeah white would have been my first choice actually, I reckon VW's white colour is among the best white on the market.
I didn't have a choice in colour, but just so happens the silver looks good and stays relatively clean looking

C'mon Hulk, if you actually buy another one you might get a welcome. Otherwise we all know you're having a fish.

To the OP, you should be able to get a good nick second hand one for about 16K, maybe even with a bit of warranty.
