After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Easy way to remove a wheel thats stuck to the hub

Hey guys i was reading in one of the other threads about leaving the bolts in loosely and driving the car a lil to ease the wheel off the hub when its bonded.

I swapped my spare for one of my fronts and had the 'sticky' rim issue. and came up with an (IMO) safer way of doing it and would appreciate your thoughts i guess...?

I took the bolts out of the rim (with the car jacked up), and then slowly lowered the jack. this eventually puts the geometry of the hub lower then the center of the rim and eases it off.

I then just jacked the car back up and put the spare on..

I thought it was pretty clever

Hi, does not sound like a bad idea, I have had the problem before and was just kikking the wheel till it came loose.

Sounds like a good idea to me, never had the problem, but defiantly safer then driving with lose bolts not knowing when it will let go. Thanks for sharing!

sounds like a simple clever idea. BUT if the wheel was proper stuck and you lowerd it down it could take some weight of the jack but then all of a sudden dropping it all back on causing the Jack to be shock loaded which could fook it. Especially if its just a road side one. Just be carefull i guess

If you ever happened to get a wheel lug stuck, just don't do what this guy did

Kinda off-topic, but thought you might find it funny.

Also slightly grease the hub b4 the wheel goes back on.
My way would be a hammer with rubber head, smack it in side out while spinning the wheel evenly, or another super cool way is sit in front of the wheel, legs out, kick the wheel in 3-6 clock position couple of time, 3 then 6, spin the wheel 45" give it another go, and another go... another go, now hopefully the wheel lose b4 your your back hurt lol.

Dont you usually just "crack" the nuts while the car is not jacked up, and then jack up and remove the nuts fully ?

yeah...... my rim was stuck to the hub once the "nuts" which are actually bolts were removed..
