Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Damn. wish i found this site yesterday !!

          Hey guys,

I really wish I had found this site yesterday and not 10 mins ago.
I paid $29 drive away today 07 compliance, Candy white cloth trim. I been looking all week for an aussie based website for this very info... bugger !

Oh well live and learn, I'm sure the grin on the face will make up for the extra $$ paid.

Now lets start pricing some goodies : ) is there an FAQ thread with all the newb questions such as when is too early to chip etc ?

          Regs,

I paid 27750 on road for an red ex-demo 2007 with 2800km on it, which after reading some of the other posts doesn't sound as good as what i thought at the time when I was doing the deal. Although I did get 6500 trade in on my 2000 Magna which while it was in good condition, it's still a Magna and they are worth nothing these days so I think i did ok (not brilliant, but ok).

On the plus side, i was agonising over the decision before i bought the car and since picking it up I haven't looked back! I'm not even close to being able to drive it at it's full potential yet.

              Ben.

Yeah but $26,990 was before on-road costs. I bought mine Feb 06 and (without leather or sunroof) was $26.990 + on roads bought it to almost exactly $30k.

How do I stop driving the car hard...

Ok so i picked up the car today after more dramas.. need to keep an eye on those finance people... they will jack up the interest rate till you bleed if you arnt keeping an eye on the figures !!! But its good to know they will negotiate on interest rates if you get up and walk out the door to take the finance elsewhere.

My problem is how do i drive this car like its new. The salesman shouldnt have told me the engines are pre run-in in germany (and it certainly feels like it). Whilst I am not taking it near redline it just wants to pull and pull : )

Things wrong with the car so far:
It makes my face hurt from grinning (2am run down Dehli road during my *ahem* lunch break)

So much potential in such a small package..

I'm afraid that sore face muscles from grinning doesn't go away. I've had mine over a year and it's still capable of bringing me home with a wicked grin on my face which raises suspicions in my wife's mind.

Let's face it ... these little rockets are just trouble ... but we like it, like it ... yes we do.

All I did was on the 1st weekend gradually punch it harder past 3000, then 4K then ... you get the picture. Put it this way, I picked up the Saturday, did 500km. Sunday went on a drive with my MINI owner friends, did another 500km at the same pace as the MINI's.
