i had a 1999 GF8 wagon, the old body shape (which i still think is the fattest). She was a beauty, and was very very fast, but the amount of fuel that it used was outrageous. in the end it was costing to much to maintain her, and it was coming time for new CV's and discs and pads and so on and so forth so i weighed up my options and said stuff it im buying a new car... the best decision i have made in a while. the 2004 is a totally different car.... very nice to drive. The Polo is great though, and i know i have made the right move. even if im losing a few seconds down the quarter (stock)... i am gaining a better car.

          Hi,

          I'm also a WRX convert.

I had a 2005 MY05 Club Spec Evo 8 with leather, sunroof and about everything you can get with a standard Club Spec 8. Cost a f**kin fortune.

          What a pile of crap.

Crappy interior(for price), Rough on the road, Bouncy, Handling was OK(going faster), Crap in the wet(back-end happy).

Had to be driven hard to have smooth changes. Lots of interior noise after 30,000kms(creaks).

Great brakes, great acceleration. Steering heavy.

Did I mention the massive fuel bill and lack of economy? Even with a UniChip that IMPROVED economy(went from 400kms stock to 520kms for a 55L tank of 9

Suffice to say. now I have a APR flash(just as quick as the WRX IMHO) and get 410kms driving normally(35L of fuel) so about $40.00 per week, if fuel goes down. far less.

Do yourself a favour, go the Polo GTi. I LOVE this car.

Did I mention insurance? I halved my insurance bill(almost).

          An honest opinion for you.

          BTW: Comparison of cars owned - 2001 Honda Civic Manual, 1994 Skyline R33 GTS25T M-Spec, 2003 Astra SRi Turbo, 2005 Club Spec 8 & 2006 Polo GTi.

Astra Turbo/Polo GTi(Only the '03-'04 Astra Turbo, the new one is too heavy) are the BEST of all.

I paid $31,000 drive away for a '06 Candy White GTi with a full tank of fuel and custom grey/red leather interior.... Really brightens up the inside of the car as i found the factory leather to be a bit bland... No heated seats for me thou

Didn't get sunroof as i had one in a Honda Euro and it rattled and creaked and all sort of stuff - never getting a sunroof car again!!!

'06 Polo GTi - Candy White / Custom Leather / Looking for Dish!!!

I can't imagine you'd need the seated heats in Brissy Would love to see pics?

haha I've had some golf GTI owners whinge cause they paid all that money for Leather and didn/t get red stitching like we do

carazy, Sunroofs aren't what they used to be. Pass on the option, seriously.

What do you mean arn't what they used to be?

I played with the Polo roof on the demo I drove, seemed to work like any other I've used.. plus I love them.
If I didn't care about sunroof the Raliart Colt would be a serious contender, dispite it's looks.

I have the sunroof, and while I probably would not have bought it had I ordered (as opposed to buying based on cars in stock), I am very happy with it. Not rattles or other gremlins which seem to afflict the Golf GTI sunroof :fingers crossed:

I just hear of a lot of sunroofs in modern day cars that are rubbish. When looking at the MINI I wanted a sunroof, but it was the full length of the roof. When I saw how small and pokey the Polo's sunroof was I said forget it I'll buy the leather seats instead.

                              Fair enough..
Well based on the info in this thread I'm going to aim for the following from the dealer:

On road with Silver + Leather and Sunroof + floor mats = $31,000 less my trade in.
