How do you remove the rear badge?

      I used Blitzen's method: Floss.

The badge is held on using tough double sided tape. As the badge itself if flimsy, you would not want to pull it off directly. Once its off, there are 3 rivet style connections where the chrome logo is attached to the circular backing: These can be drilled out easily, but DONT USE ANY FORCE as the drill tears through the plastic in a few revolutions.

I kept snapping the Floss, i'm sure a fishing line would have worked better.

Bunnings (am I the new troll?) has good weatherproof double sided tape for reattaching. I used it to hold up lights in my bathroom of the place we were renting, so holding on the badge will be no problem.

Before using the dental floss/fishing line, heat the badge up with a hair dryer (hot setting) to soften the backing tape. I've debadged a lot of cars and never had a problem with paint damage using a dryer.

Cool thanks. I've got a black front badge already, but keen on painting the back one too.

Can someone please confirm if either of these two will fit an 08 Polo GTI?

VW POLO MK5 (9N) 02-05 --"VW"-- FRONT GRILL BADGE NEW on eBay (end time 02-Jun-10 19:31:26 BST)

VW GOLF MK5 --"VW"-- FRONT GRILL BADGE CHROME on eBay (end time 26-Jun-10 11:55:16 BST)

One is for the 9N series, and the other, for a MK5 Golf GTI.

            Cheers
