Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Depends... The price sounds good, but do you want the Diesel?

If you plan on tuning, the Diesel has less potential (well... debatable) but if you just want a nice daily drive, the Diesel is good and the fuel economy is fantastic.

There is VW support in Tas, but be aware that getting spare parts and servicing after warranty is over will be more expensive being a Euro car.

Might be a bit off topic here...

You can tune diesels nicely, ask Golfman. They are nice cars, economical and for a good price I would buy one.

I beg to differ sir! (however I'm not going to turn this into a Diesel vs Petrol debate!)

plenty of stuff out there for the diesels, you just have to do more research! ie, less bolt on 'kit' stuff

With Gavin doing Custom Code on here, the possibilities and combination's are endless!

I say do it, but hell im biased

I should have expected backlash. I'm not saying they are gutless, but if power is your goal, I'd think that Petrol has it over Diesel for the Polo's. The words were 'less potential'.

depends on how much money you want to spend

200hpatw and 400+nm is VERY achievable

either way, as a standard, or chipped car, they go really well, are easy to drive and get great economy. They're holding thier resale values really well too.

150kw at the wheels? easily achievable? Even I don't believe that. Not from the old tech 1.9 in the Polo TDI

it's basically, injector upgrade, exhaust and turbo upgrade. & chipping of course.

did I say easy??? I believe I said very. Re-read the quote!

and yes it is achievable. You tube it. There is a bloke pumping out 260fwhp from my engine.

just because its old tech doesnt mean its bad
