How long has it been up?

Could be slow buying time, could be a little expensive.

But it could just be people dont like your wheels, when it comes to the used car market, having time to spare for selling is a good thing. When I first started looking for my GTI there were only a few on the market in my area at any 1 time. 2 months later there were 4 people offering theirs on this site alone.

Does not seem to be much competition (TDI's in your area) which will work in your favour.

I'd say be patient.

Hey guys,

A mate of mine has offered to sell me a 2008 vw Polo TDI 1.9L it only has 6,300km on the clock. He is asking $21,000ono for it just wondering if this seems like a reasonable price??

hey man welcome!

i'd say buy it for sure. reasons:

1. its a diesel. awesome fuel economy, torque, and an engine that only gets better AFTER 100,000km's on the clock. oh, and the prices arent necessarily going to get better. its a diesel. it will hold its value much, much better than its petrol brothers.

2. this gen polo doesnt have a diesel particulate filter, which some say hamper performance. also, it's got a bigger engine and stock output than the next gen models, which are 1.4 or 1.6 iirc.

3. performance? people harp on about how slow tdi's are (perfect example would be peugeot and audi at lemans), but they dont know just how under-engineered the tdi polo is. the turbo is tiny, exhaust restrictive etc etc. like josh said, they are damn tuneable and there is alot of documentation on peeps who, with injectors, turbo upgrade, fmic, exhaust, clutch and remap, can take down e.g. nissan fairlady.

4. chipped, they're not too bad. the naysayers will disagree, but i saw a chipped polo tdi take down a vx commodore v8 ute the other day, rolling start. the ute was definitely in a hurry, and howling pretty loudly. (disclaimer: like everyone else, i have a mate who has his own private track just like barbagallo or winton, and thats where i saw it).
