TIP Install - Sydney

Hey guys, a mate has recently bought a Polo GTI (06 model) and has picked himself up a TIP.

Anyway, he assumed - wrongly - that I would like to install this for him as a "favour", but after it taking about 5hrs for me to do my Forge one recently I am not interested in going through the frustration, loss of skin, blood and temper that occurred any time soon.

So what I am after is somewhere in Sydney he can take it along to and get it fitted.

EDIT: Also, he is supposed to be registering on here and introducing himself - although if it takes him as long as it took to get the car he'll be here next year

this sounds like my experiance with instaling the tip. by no means a happy venture.

I told my mate to come over on our way out into the city, told him it would take 30mins max.

It took 30mins to clean the cuts and wipe the grease off my hands, the install took about 3hours. Don't know how mechanics do this sort of stuff everyday.

I did mine twice in a week...Oh, the pain!! Had to change the hose clamp around the turbo inlet...Did manage to do the second time in less than 2 hours though, but its something I don't want to do again!!

most of it i found wasnt to bad , but getting that hex bolt from hell lined up with one hand while screwing it on with the other took me 1.5 hrs in its self. personally i found the fmic easyer to install.

The FMIC was honestly a piece of cake... The TIP always looked like a PITA of a mod so I've never done it lol.

Did you do it before or after your FMIC mike? Did it make a difference? What intake are you running?

bmc cda with forge tip , imo it gave you lil in the top end of the rev range where the pog usually fades. you can definatly feel the differance when its chipped. i did mine before the fmic and quite frankly with out the hex bolt from hell , the tip install would be relatively easy.

Pretty easy to buy direct rom them, and very easy to find them.

Just look under VW in the Vehicle dropdown box on the site, then select Polo 1.8T, and it will list all of the pasts for Polo GTI...
