sorry guys if this question has been repeated but ive done a search and i cant seem to get what im after. basically what i want to know is , will mark 4 golf rear calipers and carriers fit on a 9n3 polo gti , and if not what do i need to change to get them to fit?
just weighing up weather to do it or not , i know prodominantly most of the braking is done with the front but im not sure if doing the front only will screw with the brake balance , if its not going to cost me much i might as well do the rear as well.

change the rear brakes won't make a huge different, i guess you do the front first? and just a little bigger 288 to 312, there will be a huge different when you braking
Im actually selling your S3 front calipers and carries at the moment Gavin! They do get around don't they!
Let me know if your interested Mike?? Jimmy checked them out recently and gave them the thumbs up. Include caliper, carriers, brake lines and used EBC Green Stuff pads.
Would have loved to put them on but with interest rates going up I'm trying to put come cash away just in case.
Yes for sure and dont quote me here, i know the Mk5 pulls up slightly at the rear 1st, and ive changed dozens of rear discs and pads on the rear of them way sooner than the fronts. Not sure at this stage if the same goes for the Polo. Vwindahouses brakes are tremendous and he has TT rears on his. Mike you mentioned your shims at the rear, consider these when doing brakes as the lot has to come apart to do so, better not to do double job and you would then have to change the wheel bearing lock nuts twice in that case.
Cheers

might leave the shims till i do the rears, which by the looks will be done with the fronts. so are tt rears a direct bolt on? if so i have a good idea where im getting both front and rears .
