  • Radio Code

I had a go at removing the radio/cd player today on my 2006 1.9 TDI. After a bit of playing around with the ring pulls (x4) i managed to get it out. This is all a bit of a practice run to have a go at the blend doors to fix the heating / cooling issues I am having. I put the radio back in and it went to safe mode and wanted code. I look at the book and it simply tells you how to enter the code. It doesn't tell you where to find it .

    So where is it ?

Or, do I have to run off to the dealer with VIN No. , Passport , Birth Certificate , Medicare card , colour of underwear, etc. to extract this piece of information?

I do point out that , turning off the unit and then restarting the car then turning on the radio unit reactivated it and all function are okay. However I am curious about where I find this mysterious code.

It would have come with the service books when new. Although I have seen the factory radios come back to life in GTIs after a few ignition cycles, even when they have been out of the car for years. Dealer will charge you, I am sure. You can buy the code online for a few bucks, need to provide the serial of the radio to a russian hacker
