  • Polo Gti 1/4 mile slips

Well as you can see the fastest was a 15.8. Its got more potential in it. Just bogged down to much in nearly every run except the last. where it was wheel spin city. All in all not a bad night. What are your thoughts.

15.8 is what the motor mag came up with (or wheels)

Great work! Looks like you had fun. On your fastest, you really cut back your reaction time.

Yes but unfortuneatly reaction time is only good if you get the launch right.

It was a pretty crappy night. I dont go into it cause i dont like blaming anything else besides the driver. the 9.20pm run was with traction on (accidently) the rest were off.. the 15.8 was off. I say it has more cause i let the wheels spin and then slightly backed off and when it got traction it bogged. I think i should be able to hit my goal of 15.5 maybe next time.

with a track temp hovering are 37 it was a hot night. can have been ideal for the little side mount. that conbined withthe fact i hadnt practiced launching it at all since i bought the car till the first run. next time ill be better prepared.

It is a heavy car though. You need the extra 35KW a chip would give to comfortably dip under 15's

yeah i knowits a big girl all 1270+ with me in it. but i know it has more potential than 15.8. and yes a chip will dip me into 14. but i want to know i have been able to get the most out of it standard before i go further. it may sound silly but its just me. And now i know i can go quicker i will have to prove it.

                      Hoyhoy.
Shaneth, fairly faded, but the best I could do because I only just got a new printer-scanner. Anyway this is with the APR tune. The little girl is just getting better & better. It had less than 3000 kms on her when this was done. At 53 yrs of age this was my first go at it & the reaction times below were .009 & .068 with no red lights out of 5 runs. Still pleased with myself.
P.S. The run on the left was the worst, I missed 3rd peg.

                      Hooroo.

14.7! Pretty good with the APR flash!

Any more plans for your car?

                            Ok im confused.
Reaction times work on a simple principle. It measures the time from when the last amber come on to when your front wheel clears the start line beam. Now as there is exactly 4 tenths of a second between lights, it then follows that a "perfect light" will be four tenths of a second - meaning that the vehicle has cleared the stage beam at exactly the same time as the green light came on. This is shown on the time slip as .400. Anything less than this means that you left too early and red lighted (fouled) and any more than this is wasted time sitting at the start line.
This says that i have to get a .4 or more reaction time to not foul, how did eddy get .009 and not foul. Is each drag strip different. Also i noticed that eddys runs were done at 18deg i wish mine was.

Ok im going to answer my own question i think. This is off theWSID site.

Reaction time: The time it takes a driver to react to the green start light on the Christmas tree, measured in thousandths of a second. The reaction time counter begins when the last amber light flashes on the tree and stops when the vehicle clears the stage beam.
Full tree: The consecutive appearance of all three amber lights on the Christmas tree four-tenths of a second apart, followed four-tenths later by the green starting light. Used in all Group Two and Three categories, in which a handicap starting system is used to equalise competition. A perfect reaction time on a full tree is .000 at WSID.
So im thinking the measurement at WSID is taken from the green light not the orange light like Willowbank.
