  • Re: Little Red Devil

I love to play, I'm almost embarrassed I hadn't thought of playing around with it myself. The car feels less bumpy on the road as well, having the passenger side higher is definitely a more balanced position.
Would someone with stock suspension care to measure the front arch gaps? I'm thinking the passenger side is a little higher in stock form.

    • Corner weights are the only way to sort ride height. A datum is what you need, you can fiddle to your hearts content afterwards. Surely you guys can find someone locally with some decent corner scales? I'd hit up some local club race, hill climb clubs and ask around. At worst you could roll up to a v8 garage and offer to swap the apprentice a carton of beer for his time to weigh your car while you adjust corner weights with ride height.

Fred Puhn wrote an excellent basics manual on developing stock suspension. Extract here on the topic.

That new splitter looks the part, us like you said it'll hopefully benefit you too on track. I'd be interested in the other, but I'm in the UK haha!

          • So been a little while but still having fun in the background

First track outing yesterday since the new snail went in and had the pleasure of lapping with some Euro royalty

Really happy with all the new power available but can see some wider and more track orientated tyres are becoming more of a must. Along with sorting the front end aero.

So giving the aero focus a rest for a bit I'm now back to airflow and cooling. Had my turbo charge pipe ceramic coated first

Massive thanks to Paul at Thermal Edge Coatings in Brendale for his support. Great guy to chat with and puts his money where his mouth is when it comes to knowing his product. He currently owns a sprint car and races it himself in top level National Sprint Cars and is now trying his hand at the insane national sprint boat comp. All his race vehicles have his very own thermal coatings which is also the same as his customers get. Can't recommend them enough.

Then added some more gauges to the mix

            EGT

            Air Fuel

Little dash storage tray came in handy with the help of a drill

And finally in after some much needed ale assistance (not a fan of electrics)

Unfortunately the EGT probe won't be sorted until the engine build but the air fuel should be up and running very soon.

And back to the track - well winter has finally hit with a nice ambient for the session (sorry bit blurry 12.1*C)

So mounted the probe as close to turbo as possible to see what sort of bay temps I'm dealing with and to compare after I bang the new bonnet vents in. Also the carbon sheet I had in mind to cover the grills on the top of the bumper is proving hard to cut on an angle, so some tape took its place nicely

And to my surprise here is the result

Pretty sure there's not too many cars that will allow you to do this after a 30 minute fang around a circuit

            Barely warm

Anyway on the airflow side 6" stack arrived

Just waiting on the new filter, 6th week now

            • And on the exhaust side got my sexy S.S. 3.5" flange from Bullet Fast (Cheers mate!) and a 3" Magnaflow 100 cell cat turned up also

Also painted a heap of bits in satin black which I think have turned out nice

And all the top and bottom front grilles as well as the dash cubbie that hold the new gauges as it was a bit scratched up

Lito check the last page mate, I jammed a thermometer just above the turbo for the last happy laps.

Did I read correct, 525 Celsius?? Looks like those vents aren't a bad idea lol
