  • polo gti's chipped times.

ill be upgrading my polo 1.4 to a new GTI soon which i will be getting chipped from powerchip which will give me 145kw and 273Nm. i was wondering what sort of 0-100 times you would get if it was chipped.
    cheers

I think people are afraid to post because people will call BS on any time under 10 seconds.

The only official run I've done in my (APR chipped) Polo was at the last NSW Dutton Rally. On a gravelly runway at Goulburn Airport the car ran 0-100 in 6.4 on the way to a 23.9 sec 1/2 mile.

Traction (or lack thereof) is your biggest enemy - I'm sure there's power available to run faster but you just can't get it to the ground.

You can see how the 1/2 mile results stack up against other entrants below - once the car gets rolling in 3rd and beyond it runs quite nicely.

There's been several other threads similar to this one mate.... they never end well. Have a search through the forum and you'll find the others.

All I'll say is the general concensus from Polo GTI owners is in the low 6's.

Here are some that come to mind:

Also remember that is low 6's when the engine is relatively cold. Once heatsoak sets in, it gets slower and slower.

Not wanting to start a chip war, but Powerchip is probably the 1 chip tuning company you DO NOT want to touch your Polo. There have been a few really bad stories come out from VW's chipped by them. A late member of this very Polo forum had a very nasty expierence with them as well .....

+1. I have been personally warned off Powerchips.

With the possible damage to your vehicle caused by poor ECU management, I would no substitute for one of the big tuning brands.

Chip only is good, but to get the most of it, you need to get a couple of extra bits (mainly to open up the intake restriction).

                      Powerchip: no idea.

APR Chip: Around 7 sec (assuming otherwise stock).

I'd be sticking with a more reputable brand like APR, giac, cucstom code or revo(to name bit a few) plus you get more power out of those brands with better technical support. But, it's your money, and it's not my place to tell you where to spend it. What I suggest if for you to go to a few different tuners and get a free trial flash.
Anyway, thread closed as this topic has been done to death before. Please, in the future, make better use of the search function.
