  • My Polo GTI

    Hi Guys,

I'm Raf from Belgium and i'm new on this Forum.
i am verry glad to find a decent forum about Polo's, specially the GTi model.
My car is a Polo GTi MY07 and is in my possesion sinds 2006 and i'm still verry happy with it.
a few things has been done to it but there are more things to come.
before i did any tuning i did a Dyno run to see what performance it has when it was stock.
and i had 161Hp and 250nM was the result wich i think was not bad.
    Then i had a K&N airfilter installed.
i've noticed a litlle bit in higher RPM, i could breath better.
and my fastest times from 0-60 was 6.3sec,
and on 1/4th mile dragrace my best time was 15.07sec.
i recon i could do 14.9 but i never made it because after 2 runs i had heatsoak.
the intercooler is a real problem i think.
but before i did that update i had it lowered with KW V1 suspension.
and not so much later i had a Full milltek system installed.
so now i'm planning to go again on the Dyno to see what power gains i have with this.
22 august i know the result.
after that i'm going to install the seat sport intercooler that i have laying in the garage allready.
enough said, here ar some pics.

This is a Video of me dragracing my Polo in Ciney lest year. :p

Hi and welcome to the forums! Nice ride you've got; I'm really beginning to like the badgeless grille.

I'd like to know more about that SEAT sport intercooler. Is that a bolt on job or similar install to the Forge FMIC?

      Thanks

the badgeless grill is from FK automotive and it doesn't have the red line on it.
i made it with the original red line and used a dremel to cut off the fittingpins on it.
then used some glue to put it on the grill and the result was awsome. not an easy job but do-able.

The seat sport intercooler is a bold on job if you use the intercooler holders + screws also.
i have ordered the intercooling piping from Forge.
these are better then the plastic seat pipes wich are restricted in flow.
the pipes from forge are a bold on job for the Ibiza, but i think it will go just fine on a polo as well.
because the seat piping fits a Polo also.
when it's finished it should look like this...

Problem is that legally in Aus you need to keep your front reo and in that pic it looks like that will not be the case.

Stick with FORGE or APR and keep your ride legal

Nice car you've got there mate, and impressive figures from stock (good starting platform). Looking forward to seeing how you go on the 22nd. Keep us posted.
          Cheers,

          John

I see what you mean, the front bar isn't there anymore. I didn't pick it when I first looked.

normally the front bar should stay in place.
but i know what you mean but they left it off to make the picture.
i know the person who this ibiza belongs to.
it's a bold on intercooler with a bold on piping kit from forge.
                so it's still legal.

this is how it should look, but then with the forge piping on it.

in this picture they used the stock Seat piping.
but as you see the upper pipe on the IC is flat, so it's restricted in flow.
thats why Forge made a kit for this IC, the kit will fit perfect on the ibiza.
and as the Ibiza and polo are the same it should fit the polo to.
i personally don't know anyone who done this to a polo with the forge kit.
but i'll let you guys know how it worked out

                this is the forge kit.
it's not on the site of forge yet, because it's a new kit.

Awesome. If the front reo fits back on then this appears to be an awesome mod. What sort of $'s for the FMIC? It's HUGE.

Is there much lag from fitting this cooler?
                      Cheers,

                        Thx for comment

The intercooler is from a seat Ibiza Cupra PD160
get it from the local seat dealer for around 350€
the piping from Forge is 390€
so in total it's almost 750€, verry cheap i think.
my friend has the same IC but with original seat piping and he spent 1000€.

                        about the turbolag.
when i put this on youre polo when you don't know it,
you probably won't even know it when you drive it afterwards.
i recon i should have a bit more lag, but you can't notice it.
but on a mapped car it should be a total different world to drive

I have just been looking on the net for one of these coolers, but havn't found one so far. I would even stick with the stock piping if i got one, and it even looks stock too.
