  • 08 gti race it or wreck it out?

    Hi ,
Ive just bought a front damaged 08 gti .My intentions initially were to take the running gear out and transfer it into a suzuki swift gti to use for track work. However once I took off the damaged panels (bonnet, front bumper, radiator support)there is very little wrong with this car,the rh engine mount has broken, but they look very weak anyway. To fix this car up as a track car I would need ,radiator, radiator support panel ,engine mount, bumper, bumper support and a bonnet. Are these parts readily available secondhand (sorry I am new to Vw scene).
This car has only done 11,000klms from new,has leather interior etc and seems too good to wreck out(it cannot be repaired for road use as its a stat write off)Is there a market for the Interior stuff as I wont be needing that?
    Any thoughts!!

parts second hand aren't too easy to come by, will more than likely have to buy them new.

I think you'll easily sell off the interior though

If you are going to be tossing the interior I'm happy to take it off your hands

        For a price of course
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting

OK, I'll take the drivers side, my speaker cover is cut open on the A-pillar.... has been since I bought it

Apologies for jumping the gun but thought I'd express interest

I vote race it. A remapped 1.8T in a Suzuki Swift sounds like a lot of fun!

                  08 polo

Well the polo is in pretty good shape ,just need the bolt on panels, fix a small dent in the rear quarter and it would be a nice reliable little track car. What amount of boost dothese things run std?
Is there anyone in aus who does hot up parts for these vws?
What is the weight of the std car?

Plenty of folk do software, me included. They will just about do 1.5BAR with a chip. You need a FMIC and downpipe too. The std exhaust is adequate.

Standard boost is about 7PSI, but when tuned, is boosted up to about 17PSI(depending on the tuner and conditions.

not to sound like a vulture here but if the leather interior is nice , name your price id very interested.

as for parts as luck would have it most wrecked gti's that ive scne have all been head ons, so finding second hand parts from pickles might be hard. a 1.8t swift , would be sooooooooo much fun

Hi DMWDave, i remeber you from RedlineGTI.com,
i used to have a MK3 swift GTi

are you trying to put a 20VT engine in a swift?
                            sounds mental
but as far as i know, the polo you bought doen not have that much damage.
for around 3000€ it is fixed and running OK.
standard pressure of the turbo is 0.5bar i think, with only chip it has +-200hp on 1bar.

What about buying a high km polo club/match or something and transfer the running gear and interior into that...

Buy an 02 model or something..
