I think going new will be stretching it a bit too far. Is the sun roof worth it?
I really think i will go stock and do the mods either myself/professionaly installed.
If people can recommend me some good mechanics/stores/people local to me would be great (you can pm me if you like)
Can someone also explain heat soak to me, or point me to the right thread.2009 Polo GTI | APRv2 |

Don't worry about heat soak until you are thinking about tracking and have the car at least chipped.

the stock intercooler is prone to heat soak.. Its situated in a place that doesnt have a great air feed to it plus its small in size.. When it gets hot, it doesnt cool down the charge from the turbo as well as it would when its cold.Originally posted by sim View PostI think going new will be stretching it a bit too far. As your in a hot area, the heat soak will happen more often resulting in the car going worse after your drive it for a while especially in stop start traffic..
FMIC is more efficient at cooling intake charge, giving your car cooler air, means more power for much longer and more importantly less detonation if your fuel is poor.
the car will feel more consistant with FMIC, niot nessessarily more powerful but retains what power it has for much longer.

get back OT people otherwise this thread will go to never never land.
Sim, just work out your budget, work out if your going to do mods or not and then decide from there.
You're better off getting a car thats had good quality mods already done to it with a few extra km's then getting a brand new one and starting from scratch.
If you're just the kind of person that wants everything brand new then get a new one.
good luck!
