Got this really annoying embarrassing creaking sound whenever I open and close the drivers side door. Creaking is coming from the lower hinges. Any recommendations for a long term fix (i.e. any specific type or brand of lube to be used?). It makes my car sound old every time i open and close the darn thing. Dealer fixed it once but recently has come back again.

Yes mate HHS with creep. I use it on most and as it has creep it wicks into the hinge. Spray it on the pins and moving parts and work the door like mad till it goes away, will be gone for a while with this lubricant.

Had a similar problem - I told the dealer about it and they found a nut which was loose, so if the grease doesn't fix it, perhaps go in there and see if anything needs tightening.NickZ

yup, second for the graphite powder. Being a dry lube means it doesn't attract dust.Originally posted by pixl View PostI've only ever used graphite powder for those sort of hinges in all my cars. Works great, it's a dry lube so no mess.Track Car: 06 Polo GTI Red Devil mkII

If graphite powder could wick in i would use it but it doesnt. I use graphite on Bailey channels which it is excellent for, that is one place you dont want dust.
Each to their own of course.
