Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. im looking at upgrading the intake system on the polo.

anyone willing to share there intake setups with pics. im sure there are afew guys out there that are abit more creative to share with the polo community.

ive just purchased a pod filter, however unsure on how to mount it to what looks like the air flow sensor or something.

has anyone made any DIY attempts to making a cold air feed besides the SEAT intake. any custom made air boxes with pod filters?

I made this setup when i first got the car dont use it anymore tho.

Now i use the PD160 and a BMC filter works just as well.

I had just finished the install (enough to drive it) when this photo was taken. It looks a bit better now than it does in the photo. At the time I had to rush to get the car back on the road.

Did that full battery cover come with the car or did you change it yourself? It's definitely different to what most of us have.

Some cars come with it, some without it.

that looks great mate, what did you use as the adapter to connect to your air flow meter?

I mounted it straight off the air flow meter housing, Had a cut out in the heat sheild.
All i did was make up a cardbored mock up of the heat sheild brought some heat sheild material forom Rev Race gear and bent and rivited it into shape.
Used the air box mouting points to bolt it in.
sounded cool and was very responsive but if it made any gains.... I could not tell.

I have a pod off the Maf but used an adaptor to bolt up to the maf and bolt the pod onto the adaptor.

then made up a heat shield very similar to above.. But I left the standard bottom of the intake system with the seat intake feeding air to it.

a friend of mine [-Polo GTI-] has the BMC air filter and SEAT intake on his and says it works great, he noticed a big difference in the low end and most importantly it keeps the power on past 5,500rpm.

+1 I have this set up with a Forge closed loop DV and Forge TIP. This combo works a charm, brings the little bugger to life if you don't have it chipped and compliments if you do!

Yeah he has a Turbosmart dual port BOV and the V2 APR chip, it's great fun to drive. That Forge TIP would be a good mod.

i played around with another unique setup. Bmc panel filter, seat intake and a second feed of cold air, made a hole under the airbox and strapped up the stock polo gti air duct getting cold air from under the car. It works sweet. Spool up is nice, car looks stock underhood and it feeds that extra bit of air top end if needed. Its cold tonight so its really scooting, not sure if its attributable to cold air or new intake setup. Try it. Im impressed.

I was hoping to see someone try the bonnet scoop inlet.

Ricey I know, but could work wonders.
