Joe - I was originally going to buy my car from Barloworld actually, But the trade in they gave me was pathetic so i went to Denlo Volkswagen at Parramatta! Thank you very much, Really appreciated.

What do you suggest i do about this? I dont think its fair that ill be disadvantaged because they gave me a lemon!

Im really annoyed at the fact that i paid an extra thousand for esp and airbags and the esp isnt even working properly!

If i wanted to have to fix my car straight away i would have bought a second hand one =|

I suppose we all react to situations differently.

I dont even know what a pdi is.

I called and spoke to him this afternoon and he said that he'd have to speak to his boss on monday.

        Pre Delivery Inspection.

Sounds like there wasn't a road test to me.

Unfortunately, I had the same problem when I picked up my car. If I was travelling at 60 and let go of the steering wheel, I would be in the next lane in less than 2 seconds.

I took it back to the dealer, they told me the place where they get all their pre delivery vehicles checked so I took it to them. About 40 mins later, they fixed it. Well, it was fine for about a month, then it came back and it was worse.

Long story short, I got it aligned and balanced elsewhere, the car now drives as though it is on rails. Continental ended up picking up the tab, but if they didn't, I would've had them pass on the bill to VW as it should've been something that was fixed before I picked up the car.

The only way to get the best service and repairs done is not to go right off when you visit the dealer.
If you rant and rave, generally you recieve no respect from the other party. Be firm, ask to see the dealer principal and tell of your problems and dissapointment. Firmly demand the faults to be rectified and ask if at least one other traddie inspect the vehicle. That is the only way to get satisfaction, trust me!! I am in the trade.
You should be entitled to a lone car while yours is being done, its obviously their messup. Remember, dont get loud and abbusive to them, thats the best way to get action.
Good luck with your fine car,

Ive worked in many top of the market dealerships and to be honest Porsche was the only one when we did a pdi (pre delivery inspection) a full steering geometry check was part of it and found each one reqd adjustment, and again it took skill and common sense to know that we have off camber to the left roads and this reqs an adjustment to compensate. I might hit a nerve there but Skill was the operative word
I know it doesnt make you feel better but i would be straight back as its not acceptable, all of this including whatr is ticked in your delivery sheet should have been checked. Ive seen (auto trans ticked when its manual) so check that sheet.

jess, i would not be worried if i were you. The wheel alignment is nothing- i screwed mine in only three months simply because snow chains threw everything out of whack, and i had to get a new alignment done when i got new wheels. Its pretty similar to your seating position- it might need to be fixed, but its not a big deal to fix at all and it isnt indicative of the quality of the car.

As for esp- could it be a light or switch that is not working? Have you pushed your car hard enough to tell the difference? The esp is not an issue either- as joe offered, many, many of these things can be fixed by a computer in no time, so even if it seems abit complicated, it really is nothing to stress about.

Jess, it sounds like the dealer didnt do his job before delivery, but lets just say this- these issues wouldnt
Phase many of us- they can be fixed really easily, and they dont have any bearing on the true quality of the car.

Jess, you didnt purchase a lemon. You have the potential to go half a million clicks in that car. Dont be upset- its just a few things that need sorting, and them you will be right as rain.

Jesus- do you know that our little diesel motors brent actually run in until 100,000kms? And think of this- when you close your car door, its a deep resounding thud, not some tinny little pop.

VW make a great car, and your problems will be fixed in no time.

Despite what I said earlier, the moment you find the right VW dealer that is helpful, firendly and does the right thing, you'll forget about the troubles you've had and will enjoy the car. So I wish you all the best and happy motoring

If it was their service department that did the pre-delivery on the car, I would not be surprised they screwed it up (from personal experience).

The important thing is to stay calm, take it back in first thing tomorrow and make it very clear you are not happy. Make sure they give you a good loan car as well in the meantime.

Jessica - are your tyres Continentals? They seem to have a real problem with pulling to the left (mine did until I put Sport Maxs on and the problem virtually dissapeared). I know other members have had the same problem.

Dunno about the ESP - could be faulty button.

Don't think the car is a lemon because of two very minor issues - one of which is either a tyre problem (not the car) or an allignment problem.

I can understand your annoyance however.
