I like them, like that they were a factory option (maybe good for resale?), that I was able to pick them up cheap and of course the look.

Also as they are wider than stock, they fit the width of the car better and the 205 tyre better.

They're off at the moment, waiting (impatiently) to do my track day on the stock rims before they go back on.

If I didn't get these, would have gone with white diablo's.
I too went for factory 17s for the same reasons, but the Siata actually looks smaller than the stock ones. Were the diablos the same price? They look pretty dam good.

Diablo's are a Starcorp product, sold by Tempe. Can get these with Kuhmo Ku31's for $1100.

Looks good with Red GTI IMO.

I would have gone the white diablo's for sure...... they look 2,568,017,345 times better than the Siata's. I don't like the Siata's at all, they look like an old wheel.

But who am I to talk about old wheels, mine were made in the late 80's early 90's

            • I probably only like 2 or 3 wheels out of this whole thread LOL. I might just keep stock and chuck on some decent tyres for the grip.

What are you talking about Rhys, those Diablo's belong on Civic's too LOL!

I know but they are a more straight forward design that suits a lot of cars, plus for VW's they are similar to TT wheels. Those AME's have always made me spew a lil' in my mouth, poor design and CHROME.

Poeple with chrome diablo's need to be shot too.... and the chrome ones are usually found on the cheap jap cars.

                    • For those people with 18x7.5 fitted, what offsets have you got and did you need spacers for them to clear the shock/caliper?
Previous Rides: Polo GTI, Mx5 10AE, MY05 WRX WRP10, Renault Sport Clio 172
Current Ride: Evo 8 MR, Fabia MK3

I haven't got 18x7.5 but have 17x7.5 with a +25 offset. For what you're asking, diameter of the wheel doesn't matter. With mine, I had to put 5mm spacers on the front (to make +20 offset) to clear the brakes as they were only just scoring them. When I tried them on the back, they fit easily.

Remember though, each wheel is different as the spoke design also will depend on whether the wheel will fit. If the rear of the spokes are flat (like mine), they are less likely to clear the brakes. If they are curved in, there is a better chance the wheels will rotate without touching the brakes. Before buying any wheels, have a good look at how the rear of the spokes are designed.

                        Cheers,
                        Rhys

                          • Well, my wheels are ready, just need to let them rest for a few days before they go on the car.

                            The process:
                            - Months sifting through ebay for anything nice and reasonably priced
                            - Bought a set of Audi TT's (a little different to the normal ones) from Melb
                            - Shipped to Sydney
                            - Cleaned down, bogged and sanded back
                            - Primed and sanded down
                            - Painted

All up this project has cost me a scratch under $500, but the time I put in was the killer.

                            So here they are!

Closeup of the colour, no doubt changed by my camera

                            Shiny...

                            Without the Caps

With the caps (not pushed in)

I should find out what the colour was, to me I wanted a darker than normal silver, but nothing too dark as I want to be able to see the wheels...

                            Hope you like them

                              • I've not found a name for them, there are 2 VAG wheel listings, they both have them as TT's, but then there are a few different ones...
