  • I gave the girl my keys...

I had a meeting in the city and we were going out to dinner with friends after. Because of the tennis, there's nowhere to park so I figured she could drop me off and pick me up later.

I'm walking back to the car and she's standing beside the passenger door with that look on her face and says "I'm so sorry."

It can happen to anyone, so I'm not pissed with her. If it was me that did it, I'd still be just as annoyed.

I'm hoping someone can advise me on how to go about getting this fixed. I'm in Essendon so local would be nice, but I'm not fussed if I have to drive further out.

My first thought was to take it down to the repair shop in Richmond who fixed my rear bar when I was run into a couple of weeks ago. But I'm guessing that'll be rather expensive.

That's not too bad a curb at all. Should cost you no more than $100 to get it fixed up. When I got mine fixed it was done by puttying up the nasty gouges, some sanding and then respray. I'd say someones probably asked the question before in the supplier section about people who can do it in Melbourne.
    Cheers,

I was quoted around a $100 a wheel for some nasty scratched on my rims from a custom wheel maker in Sydney so I don't think it's going to be too bad on your wallet.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

The timing of your post is a bit of a coincidence. I got my other half to drop me off at an appointment in the city on friday. Since her car was in for a service we took mine, and then she drove it to do some shopping while i was at the appointment. This was the first time she had driven it and I specifically said, 'don't park too close to any curbs so the wheels don't get scratched'. I feel your pain though, I have done it in previous cars...can happen to anyone.

To all you guys... I'm sure the 'missus' was driving lol...

I did two of my wheels in a backstreet near the Caxton Hotel... Those old sandstone kurbs are harsh on wheels

If someone could recomend a repairer in Brisbane it would be appreciated

I managed to do the DRIVERS side front in reversing out a long driveway behind a commercial block of units which goes onto a main road...
...they had a low wall (which I saw) which had a couple of bricks fallen off (which I didn't see)... and here we are

I keep not fixing it in the hop I can convince myself to just buy new wheels

Consider this a best case scenario..

I curl my toes evertime I hand the keys over to the mrs..

If you get away with just a scrub mark on the wheels, thank your lucky stars

Take the wheel off, buy some 400 and then 1200 sandpaper and try to take that out. Then polish and make further adjustments if need be. It won't look as good an un-curbed wheel, but it will hide most of the damage since thats a fairly "minor" curbing...

haha i feel for you bro, same story happened to me a couple months ago but the sad thing i was sitting there . Try some wet sanding with very fine grit wet/dry paper and put some dish washing soap in the water. And then use some fine polish after. It might look a bit duller than the rest of the wheel but still better than nothing until you can get it repainted...and if its good then you saved urself some $$. And just make sure you don't go in too far with the sanding. Limit it to the damaged area.
