  • Do you think the stock trunk light is worthless?

I'm tired of pulling out my flashlight out when I want to look in my trunk at night. The stock trunk light is absolutely worthless. So what can you do? Put in your own light.

    BEFORE:
so dark.... and only have one light at the right side.... and its too dark to find things inside the trunk

    What i brought from ebay:

    Cold Cathode Light Tube x2
    Inverter x1
Some extra wire about 2 meters (for extension)

    Extra wires

    Extended wires:

    Connection:
    Red for + black/brown for -
and connect them together (remember the + and -)
You don't have to cut off the connector for the trunk light. You can safely run both the tubes and the light if you so desire.

    Wire it up

Stick and Hide the tubes on left and right or anywhere you like

Run the wire behind the carpet:
I hide it under the trunk mat cover, since i don't have a spare Tyre

    Thats it! you are done!
You should have light (unless you've left your trunk open for too long. Close it and reopen.)

    Disclaimer
I am in no way responsible for what you do to your car, or what happens to it as a result of you following my directions. The process is actually very simple and I'm sure that just by reading the title of this thread that you've already drawn up an idea in your head on how to accomplish this. If you haven't, find someone that has so you don't damage your car.

I had to move mine when I put the sub box into the space it was in. I originally bought a kit version of the one you have from AutoBarn, turns out one of the lights was dead and they didn't have a replacement in stock...

So I went the other way and bought a single under car neon and mounted that to the child restraint bar

It was bigger and brighter than the alternative, maybe a little ricey, but it serves it purpose well.

I really need to take some decent photo's of it in action since I cleaned up all the wiring, the picture really makes it look bodgy, but photobucket is playing up so maybe later.

scratch that, it started working, so here you go, not a polo but same idea:

Nice work kelvniii with the lighting but "trunk"? "Flashlight"?? Tsk tsk...

@The Hawk: if you fold the back seat (the side without the amp) down you can have a mobile tanning salon

Nice DIY job! Slightly off topic but did you build that subwoofer enclosure or did you get someone else to do it? Pretty neat 'n tidy and you retain your boot space.

Louis (Soundofav6) built it for me, check out the build thread here:

You could DIY if you had the materials, it's a simple enough process, but when it comes down to it, if I had the time over I would still pay Louis, he's just damn good at it
