sorry guys im a complete noob, and this may sound like a stupid question, however. when ordering apr/ and other tuning parts to get installed do you order them through apr then bring them along to get them installed or do you just ask the particular tuning shop to order them and just bring along the car.
also ,is there any real differance (price wise) between the two. also do any tuning shops that you know of (brisbane area) that give discounts for multiple instalations, ie apr ecu/apr fmic/ apr full exhaust/ apr diverter valve/ apr engine mount/ forge tip/ bmc cda / bilstein coilovers. (yeah i know itl take me atleast a few months to save, but thats the general gist).

I would just get all the stuff myself and take it with. However, I would speak to your shop first and make sure they understand what parts you have and how they fit. They can then seek and guidance they need in advance.

I have to contend with 'requirement creep' everyday and it can be a total piss off when you turn up to do one job and then they lump something else on or you find out the job has been cancelled.

First place I'd speak to is the crowd at Harding Performance. After that I'd say try Jmac off the forum. See below.

Welcome to the grind mike.

Regarding the chip tuners (APR/Oettinger, REVO, GIAC, Custom Code) there are generally many dealers around the country. Source your local one and you can have a chat and see what they can offer you. Generally they will sell you the product AND install it.

Check out the 'Business Home Pages' section in the drop down box at the bottom of this page (it's towards the bottom of the list). You will see a few of the dealers who are members of this forum. Just drop them a PM and ask away.

Regarding APR products, Guy (Guy_H) is the man here is Aus and is located in Brissy so could be handy for you. Apart from that, we have recently seen some good results from Custom Code so speak to Gavin above about that.

I'd recommend you do the mods 1 by 1. That way you get to enjoy the benefits of each on their own.

Doing them all at once will give you a big instant bang but leave you wanting more too soon .... and the options then are quite limited and very pricey

Welcome Mike! Actually I'd have to agree with Sharkie on this. Its actually very enjoyable doing it bit by bit. I am still at the lower end myself. I have had the APR chip for just over a month now and the performance hit is nothing short of astonishing. Now the initial 'rush' is subsiding I have fitted a K&N panel filter and again the performance hit is quite incredible. Some say they can't tell the difference. For me I am finding that impossible to believe.
Next in line will be the SEAT intake & forge TIP and I am looking forward to seeing what improvements I see with these.

hmm doesnt sound like such a bad idea. well that and the fact that the ato just issued me a 6000 dollar tax bill. money all of sudden for this project is quite limited. the only question though is ,do you really notice the differance when heat soak sets in on a chipped car, or is it pretty unnoticable.and would a apr exhaust help at all (evan minimally) , with that heat soak? thanks again guys

yep you certainly do notice heatsoak. the difference from when you start driving your car from cold and when it is well heated up is very noticeable, loses a lot of power.

the apr exhaust definitely helps heatsoak, but is not resistant to it. the apr exhaust will just hold off heatsoak a lot longer than just a chipped car. faster airflow through the system means slower heating process.

an FMIC is the only real resistor to heatsoak.

Yeah when stock I didn't really notice heat soak but now with all that extra power it is very noticable. So noticable that before I even new what 'heat soak' was, I actually thought something was wrong with the power. At times it feels like there is no boost at all.
But having said that, as Polo GTI mentioned above, a better exhaust helps the situation as it elimates the hot exhaust faster but a FMIC is the ultimate solution. I have neither but even after installing a K&N panel filter I have noticed a very noticable drop in heat soak due to the better air flow, as well as a considerable power increase and this I imagine would be even better when you also get the SEAT intake and forge TIP and really open up the airways.

Do the TT Vent mod .... isn't that meant to help with heat soak by allowing the air to flow better through the SMIC ?

If you ain't got much money it's better than nothing ... imho.

it is cheap and it does seem affective. though i know in future i will definatly be getting a fmic. anyone have any idea on how much a new guard would cost? if i choose to do this for the short run? thanks again
