With the right tools you can do it

I had a subaru forester years ago and i installed a k mac rear sway bar it saved me some cash and felt good to do my self and at least if it fell off it was my fault .Im a bit lazy with my 1:1 scale cars these days so im leaving my 2006 gti 6000km polo std and will do all my mods on my radio control cars .At least they don,t get the cops on my back i can do burn outs speed runs race ect no cops.It does cost a bit but is cheaper than real cars mods ,well a little cheaper.
I have had no real problems with my polo had all dealer service and it runs same as when i first got it.My gear box and suspension seem good so im not going to start modding now.

haven't been on the forum for the last few days so sorry for not replying to questions in this thread. the knocking has gone away and has not come back since this happened. maybe a rock or something got flicked up inside somewhere??

if the noise comes back i'll to the checks you guys have mentioned. cheers for the help!

I have this knocking noise aswell, only at slow speeds, particularily when reversing. Had my car in at Solitaire 3x to check but always get same result, couldn't hear noise. Last time took one of the techs for a drive and it happened once when he was talking, hence he didn't hear it. So still no fix. I have previously ad all the bolts checked and tightened, but that lasted 3 days and the knock was back.

Has anyone has remedied this problem?

Hey guys I got this knock too and it happens only when turning driving off the street on to my driveway at low to moderate speeds. I think it started to happen after I installed the strut bar. I do get worried about it sometimes cause its not a great sound.

if it's sway bar noise, try pulling the sway bar off and greasing up every contact point. Subaru's suffer from this. For any brissie/SEQ people, I have a small amount of whiteline grease left over from fitting the swaybar to my previous vehicle that you're welcome to use - otherwise just buy some grease.

I don't recall seeing rubber mounts for the front sway bar which on the polos, in the soobies, when the bar moved within the rubber, it made a loud ping noise. No biggy, just disconcerting.

The fix is to replace them , however you can close up the ball joints to tighten them. quieten them down. Common as.

Get a mate to rock the car side to side (with door open much easier). Get on the floor n put hand behind front wheel/s and hold on to the drop link lower join. If there are are separate movement, drop link is shot. Same thing for the top join. Your describing sound like metal knocking noise so that the first thing i'll check. Bring back to vw and bicth with em lol.
