just remember you pay for what you get, apr do make excelent components but yes there will be a cheaper option. prob not even close to the apr stuff.

I disagree, APR are not exhaust specialists, exhaust shops are exhaust specialists.
Its kinda like taking a VW to a BMW dealer for service. BMW mechanics should know enough to service your VW but they will never know as much about your VW as a VW dealer would.

I hope your not serious with that comment.

I have nothing to do with APR, but I'd say APR have tested more exhaust system's & component's than you & I have had hot dinner's on not only VW's, but also they're other brand's & would be far more efficient & effective than what Paul's Pipes could knock up down the road.

Ask your exhaust bloke then just how many performance exhaust's he's made for custom application's on VW's that meet not only noise requirement's, but also pollution requirement's? I reckon he wouldn't run out of finger's on one hand!

Yes I am serious. I do realise that APR's downpipe looks like its made well (I havent seen one in person only in pictures). Yes they have probably put effort into testing it too. But a decent exhaust shop could do a job just as good if not better on something as simple as a downpipe. And it probably wouldnt cost as much as the APR one. With the APR unit you not just pay for the research but you also pay for the name brand.
To be honest I dont know how much testing APR have done on exhausts but I bet its not as much as some may think.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know here their downpipes are made?

I am not against APR, I think think they make good products. But there are other options out there.

The APR downpipe is made by a very good exhaust shop up here... to the specs APR have done R&D to end up with.

Any shop can make a downpipe and probably do a good job, but is it as good as it could be?

So the downpipe is done by a local exhaust shop!! I think that says alot.

What is so special about APR specs. Its just a 2.5' mandrel bent downpipe with a cat. Unless that cat is made of something special than any decent exhaust shop could put one together. I could probably have one made up for less, just as good quality workmanship and probably still have a better flowing legal cat.

APR's exhaust is excellent quality. BUT it is in fact made by a local Brisbane exhaust shop for APR.

Any specialist exhaust shop can do the same.

Steve88 pm sent with details of a local specialist that can sort you out at less than half the price of an APR one.

If your stuck to a brand by all means go for it, but you are not buying any better quality or performance, only a name.

Well the story is different in WA home of the Commodore or Falcon.
Sorry mate can't help ya - will have to bash something together could cost ya 2k for the DP alone...Full system 5k in Stainless Steel. I'd rather give my $$ to APR than a so called Exhaust "speciallist" here.

I've been to several...could help ya if ya had a Commodore maytee.

I have an APR downpipe/cat combo meal on my car.

Yes it fits well but I think a 2.5inch tube is a 2.5 inch tube. As long as its mandrel bent, doesnt leak, doesnt hit anything, Id bet they will make the same power on the same Car, 2.5 inch APR downpipe vs 2.5 inch Bodgy Georges exhaust shop downpipe.

In saying that I went the APR unit because I didnt want to go back 65 times because it leaks etc etc etc etc. bolts up nicely.
