I got my GTi from John Hughes, I'm still under warranty and I'm chipped.
Quattro Motors do the "chipping" they are a two minute walk around the corner from John Hughes.
Had my car in for several services with JH and I just flip the chip back to the original program...no problems.
Worst case if you think your car had an engine wty problem, just get it to Brian at Quattro first he can pull out the software before you take it to VW JH.
    Chipping makes a hell of a difference...go,go,go,go!!

It gave me about 8kw over just the tune at the recent Brisbane dyno day (123kw atw for 2 tuned cars and 131kw atw for me).
when you slowly drove past us at the dyno day Sam we really noticed the difference in exhaust noise. it's not louder at all but it definitely has a deeper and nicer note.

one thing to add to the 8kW gain is that it holds that 8kW through several runs as well. mine was the one that gained 123kW (actually 123.8kW) however could only hold that sort of power for two runs before heatsoak set in and the power died off. Sam got a solid 131kW through pretty much all off his runs.

LOL, thats one of the funniest things i've ever heard. he obviously haven't driven one stock and then chipped. "38% gain over stock....pffft thats nothing....may as well save the money and just put a pod filter in"

he's probably referring to chipping N/A cars in which he'd be quite right.

It drives me mental. Silent..but deadly..thats my theory. The element of suprise. There a heaps of threads here on the Downpipe alone and in conjunction with the full system....these 2 mods are on my final list along with FMIC...then it has to stop..he,he.
hehe Chipped. Ive got an S3 with a full APR exhaust, and trust me, it sounds absolutely nothing like those aftermarket fartboxes you hear on little kids cars.

there is a difference over standard, but its sophisticated and upmarket (in my opinion )

Ive also got APR reflash and APR DV. I know its not a GTI, but any locals are welcome to take it for a spin if they are interested

just remember guys that APR offer a free trial (6hrs i think) so you should duck down and get that happening. then you won't be able to help yourself but get it installed very soon after.

I actually considered seeing if quattro had a test car but my car is going in for a service later this week so I thought, what the heck, I'll get it all done at the same time and supprise myself! lol I've sussed out my insurance and there is no probs there so I'm good to go! And go I shall!! lol Can;t wait actually. Trouble is I know I am going to have trouble stopping myself getting carried away hopping up my car. Money will be the untimate decider in the end I think.
I am also considering getting front and rear away bars the next thing on my to do lis. What do you guys reckon or should I be looking at something else in the handling department? I just think with that added power it makes sense to improve the road handling. Thoughts?
ps. Thanks quest for that xls doc. Very handy indeed.

                            Mozzy,

Your more than welcome to come in mine for a spin. I have APR V2. Rear Sway Bar, Front Strut Brace, Seat intake, KandN filter, H&R Springs and Bilsien shocks. PM me mate if you like, I work around the corner from Quattro.

                            Cheers

Hey chipped thanks very much for your gracious offer! I will probably decline as I tend to get nervous driving other peoples cars! lol But I shall keep it mind as you have what sounds like quite a modified unit that would be interesting to make a comparison too. Having said that knowing what I am like I'll be rather envious and want to get all the same done to mine lol. Actually what is the difference with APR V2? Is that what I am getting? LOL I'm just going whats on their website and thats about as much as I know.

I've just been talking to quattros and asked them if they recommend any other upgrades that should be done along with the the APR chiiping. Brian said that he believed there is very little to be gained in the money I would have to spend and reckons that chipping alone does not create any bottlenecks or undue stress compared to stock. I like it when you get straight up people who don;t cram products done your throat.

So apart from getting the dogbone mount upgrades I am looking at the handling side of things; ie. sway bars.

Anyway the cars already booked in this week so I'll let you know what my thoughts are.

                                Hey Matt,

Here is the answer for the V2 tune...enjoy...!
You could ask the V1 (track use) or the V2 (street use) when you chip it.
The V2 has even more early power and torque so the V2 is apparent to a street use while the V1 has more power in the higher rev.

Like we haven't got any race track here in NC, i choose the V2 which is perferct for my driving style. But you have to choose what match your style...lol !

I'll send to you by mail the dyno results between V1 and V2.

                                Cheers,
