  • Idiot crashed into my polo - Advice Please

Hey, so got my polo colour coded today and was all happy. So driving my mum to work cruising through the city and someone in a corolla decided best not to shoulder check, the simplest of road rules to follow, and merged straight into my car, damaging 4 panels.

I was wondering if anyone else here has suffered similar damage and could estimate the cost this guy will face repairing it.

From the pictures you can see the damage is significant to the front quarter panel and drivers door(which barley opens now) with less damage but still distorted rear door. The main issue i was wondering is the area under the door is dinted in multiple parts and seems quite solid, this one panel encompasses the rear, bottom, top and inside of this side of the car and seems pretty integral in the cars strength. Also the rattles has increased 10 fold and intake is loose now so sounds like desiel car when the air con fan is on shaking it.

    Man, that sux big time...
The best thing you can do is go to a few panel beaters and start getting quotes...Guys on here can only offer minimal advice without seeing the damage in the flesh.
What did the guy that hit you have to say about it? Have you informed your insurance company? If so, what has been said by them?

im on phone with them now dealing with it. He pretty much admitted he was fully at fault, constantly apologizing ect. No way i can be considered at fault. He didnt even take pics of the car for his sake or anything but i assumed he was a bit rattled himself knowing the sorta excess that awaits him. biggest annoyance is the time i now need to take going around getting quotes ect and all that crap

hey mate. Had a guy run into the back of my car just after I bought it. I gave his details to my insurance company and they sorted everything out, no excess and I didn't have to speak to him again. Good luck with it

yeah he is, have to admire how well the polo stood up to impact though, strong little thing, mutilated the front of his corolla bending his bonnet and ripping loose front bumper and side qtr pannel

just by looking those photos, you'll be looking at least $1,000 to get it fixed. but yeah if it wasnt your fault, claim thru his insurance company.

Must be the week for it -- I got rear ended yesterday. Nothing as bad as these pics, but got a quote for the rear bumper at just under $800. So I guess you could try and use that as a guideline?

Hope everything works out OK for you and that your insurance gets everything done for you quickly.

in my experiences, panel and paint shops do a good job with the repairs. ask your friends for recommended shops in brisbane and see if they are a recommended dealer through your insurance company. mate i have just recently recovered from some prick keying my car. i dunno what i'd do if someone actually hit me. best of luck with it. it will no doubt be a pain in the ass until you get it fixed, but it will be well worth it.

That's horrible luck, Oliver. Try these guys (Eurobody) ... did excellent work on mine (shopping trolley dents & door-to-door paint exchanges). Jimmy Mac (Jmac) also has a mate who does good work.

remember the biggest thing is .. DONT care or worry about the other person, go straight through your insurance and use the repairer you want and let them deal with the other party. Its not your job to save them money, they hit you.. bad luck!

hope it gets fixed soon dude.. doesnt look to bad
                            What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

What he said...He(the guy that hit you) was stupid enough to admit fault at the scene of the accident(something that you NEVER do, even though you may know you are/he is...this is the job of the Police or insurance company).
Its an annoying situation, but just let the RACQ haul the other bloke over the coals...
