Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Fault Codes - This old chestnut...

So, I've recently returned to the world of Polos and have picked up a GTI that needs a bit of TLC. I've cleared most of the fault codes, but the following remain.

Physical symptoms are that the power steering doesn't want to work and the ESP light is on in the cluster as well as the ESP OFF button being illuminated.

If anyone's willing to have a go at deciphering the below or has experienced and fixed these problems before, I'm all ears and would be incredibly grateful!

Update - I've managed to clear this code:
    00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation

Used the Basic Settings guide on the Rosstech website to do this using VCDS:
    Steering Angle Sensor (G85) Calibration

    [Select]
    [03 - ABS Brakes]

    [Fault Codes - 02]
    [Done, Go Back]

    Start Engine (session still running).

Turn steering wheel at least 30 ° left and back straight ahead.

    [Meas. Blocks - 08]
Group 005 Field 1 (Steering Angle Sensor -G85-)
    Specification: 0.0 °
    Tolerance (when straight): ±5.0 °
    [Done, Go Back]

    [Security Access - 16]
    Enter 40168
    [Do It!]

    [Basic Settings - 04]
    Group 001
    [Go!]
    [Done, Go Back]

    [Fault Codes - 02]
All fault codes should have disappeared.
    [Done, Go Back]

[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

I was going to link the RossTech Wiki, some good stuff on there.

What codes are remaining now? the "01315 - Transmission Control Module" ones?

Can you post the full scan please.
