Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I need to remove the OG radio/cd player (Eurovox 4680) to find serial number for code but it won't budge. Took it to a radio installer who used his tools and he couldn't get it out either. What next?

Here’s what the locking tabs look like on the eurovox 8790
All 4 need to be pressed in at once

Ahhh, okay, thank you. I think the clips might be messed up so those silver tabs can't be pushed down to release it

How long in your tools push in, if you can reach further where the hook is you might get lucky.

Otherwise I am not sure if there is access from the sides, you may end up needing to break the bezel of the radio.

I ended up forcing it out with flathead screwdrivers. The clips were quite bent but fixable. Thank you.
