Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2008 polo 9n3 sump needed

Hello everyone, my name is Jack ****son and I’ve owned my 2008 polo gti 9n3 for nearly a year. I’ve done some work to it and I snapped a rusty bolt from my oil pick up line, does anyone know how to get one quickly and as cheap as possible without going to a dealership? The engine code is bjx.

Like the oil pickup tube in the sump?

Normally odd bolts from the dealer are not crazy priced, if you have a pic of the location, I can lookup the part number.

it was that bolt I snapped, the tube is fine but the snapped bolt in the oil pan broke and when if finally came out the thread on the inside of the pan was ruined and I couldn’t re tap it.
I need a entirely new oil sump.

If the damaged bolt hole still looks ok, have it fitted with a helicoil or similar.

Try Tooleys in NSW if you havent already. I get sumps off them all the time.
