  • What's next?

So I see a couple of people here are starting to move on as their polos are getting to the 2 or 3 year mark.

Just wondering what everyone has in mind for their next car and why? I'll be keeping my little rocket for another two years, but possibilities for me:

    MY09 WRX hatch.

For - upgraded turbo, intercooler and suspension from MY08. Best interior in a rex in a long time. Styling not loved by everyone so should be able to get a good deal on a two year old one. More room than polo.

Against - Thirstier, heavier, not as pretty as the pog (tho I think it would grow on me - especially with some nice wheels)

    2011 Golf GTI.

For - good lookin! Fuel economy. DSG. Fancy suspension from scirocco.

Against - not that much different from the polo. Gonna be expensive.

    2009 SS

For - 6.0L of tyre shredding V8. Plenty of room. Cheap 2nd hand.

Against - Tyre bills. Fuel bills. Getting pulled over cos you're driving a commodore.

    1988 Camry Wagon

For - might finally get around to buying a house.. haha!

    To replace the Polo GTI:

    2009 Golf R-GTI

    2009 Audi S3

    Second car:

2006 Audi A4 2.0T with CVT gearbox (for the g/f, buying from dad).

Right now to replace the Polo I'm looking at the Audi S3, but I'm certainly keen on the rumoured Golf GTI-R if it does indeed come with the 4MOTION drivetrain. In either case the Polo replacement would have to be turbocharged and 4WD to make it worth the changeover costs.

Otherwise I think the Polo might be a long term keeper as a track car.

Do you mean the Lancer Ralliart?

I'm thinking GTI-R as well Same sorta performance as an S3, not to mention cheaper, and better satnav (touch screen). Or if I decide to go with the unpractical road, I might be tempted for a 370Z I need to have a powerful RWD 2 seater once in my life!
              MY07 Polo GTI APR'd - Gone!

                    20 more than a 350Z

Our spy photographers have captured what could easily be our best glimpse yet of the upcoming Nissan 350Z replacement.

This is always a tough one (see where other threads have deteriorated to)

                          2009 BMW 135i

                          or

2009 S3 (only problem is the new A3/S3 is scheduled for 2011)

                          or

2010 Golf GTI-R (we will not see it in 2009)

                          or

Audi Q5 2.0T (it has a mechanical AWD not 4-Motion and weighs almost the same as the S3/A3 quattro/Golf GTI-R) a real Q car.

                          or

2009 Audi TT-S (if I can stretch my budget that far and get finance minister to sign off on it)
Current: 2023 MY23 T-Roc R Lapiz Blue + Beats Audio + Black pack 2018 MY19 Golf R manual Lapiz Blue + DAP) 2014 Amarok TSI Red (tuned over 200kw + lots of extras) 2013 Up! manual Red 2017 Polo GTI manual Black Previous VWs and some others ...

The 370Z is the replacement for the 350Z due to be revealed later this year. It's got a 3.7L V6, should be producing 250kw and a bit more torque than the old one too. Still two doors, and two seats. Similar wheelbase to the 350Z, but a shorter car overall, maybe a bit wider? Much better interior too lol. IT's meant to be a lot more sports orientated, i.e. lighter and more powerful, than the 350Z. Apparently the doors are made of some sort of composite (not metal). Furthermore, Nissan say they're going for the Cayman with this one, and only at half the price

I test drove a 350Z before buying a RX-8 -- the predecessor to the Polo. It totally underwhelmed me -- noisy, harsh, a naff interior and not very comfortable -- so I hope the 370Z is much improved.
