Car not boosting hard??

Hi,

I have a Polo Gti, APR tune, APR downpipe, APR Diverter, BMC and SEAT intake.

It seems to be running real smooth...

In first gear it explodes in wheelspin when boost comes

BUT today, it just doesnt seem to be boosting up as hard.. No explosion of wheelspin coming on boost, just doesnt seem as strong in gear acceleration...

I opened up the hood and stuck my hand on the intercooler... It was pretty hot... The hoses from intercooler were pretty hot and a little soft.. Car not overheating or anything but performance was way down..

Is this a boosting problem or intercooler heat soak problem... Does this state of tune generate too much heat for the intercooler and the power just goes out the door quick smart after some spirited driving..

Today it seemed not to wanna get out of bed.. Its like getting up and having a bad flu??

Any ideas??

It depends on what you were doing before you noticed the drop in power.... if you were stuck in traffic for 20mins+ it may likely be heatsoak...

We have seen in our tests in Brisbane that on an APR chipped car power will drop from 123kw atw to 100kw atw when it starts getting hot.

On the the other hand if heatsoak is not the problem it is likely to be a boost leak somewhere.

Did you have the aircon on?

I gave it a good thrashing and then parked it for about 1 hour and then drove agin..

Probably heat soak..

On flat throttle sometimes it dont feel smooth, a little surging.. like its coming on power then it backs out and powers on again.. ever so slight but you can sort of feel it..
