After lots of hoop jumping and some clever google searches, I finally got in touch with Continental Australia. I'm pleased to say that there has been no handballing and that the Continental contact has been very helpful and thorough.
I was put in touch with a tyre place through Continental. After a very thorough first visit, I left with the steering improved almost 80% better. I was told to come back a week later for a follow up to see if everything was still OK.
Went back today and found out that the alignment was still very good but the guy (and myself) still weren't entirely happy.
It was soon discovered that the camber, toe and caster values given from VWA are values for the standard Polo. Given that the GTI has different suspension and wider tyres, the guy decided to toe in the front wheels some 0.2mm
WOW!! What a difference! I'm 95% happy with it now. There is some very minor left pulling, but it's crazy how much better she drives.
Again, I was told to come back next week just so he can keep an eye for unusual wear.
Will report back next week. Big cheer for Continental though. Gotta give credit where credit's due.
I used to work for a tyre place and I can tell you that it is normal for a slight pull to the left. This is done with the wheel alignment so if you fall asleep at the wheel your car doesn't pull into oncoming traffic. Good to hear that you got good support from Continental.
