drives me nuts! i thought they were meant to be solid!

can anyone recommend someone fixing these rattles in Sydney? Im not keen on taking it to the dealer as I reackon they wouldnt "find the fault" or make things worse when it comes to things like this

    thanks everyone

        Yes I rattle too.

Yes...I have creaks and rattles as well...
I agree it must be a design fault with the GTI in particular....but hey I still love the car. And I would rather a few little rattles and creaks than a boring car with no character.

My car is nearly out of warranty now...The rattles are not too bad so I think I can live with them....Turn the radio up!!

I've had a rattle in the rear left of my GTI, up somewhere near the back window/pillar.

Its more of a creak than a rattle actually. It only started about a month after I bought the car and is progressively getting worse. (I've had the car almost 4 months)

Took it in for complementary inspection, they changed the rear seat striker plate (whatever that is) and it was still creaking.

Took it again today as they said they needed a full day to diagnose and fix the problem. I get a call about 1pm saying they've pulled all the panels out and checked everything and they can't find the cause of the problem. They've spoken to VWA and asked them to diagnose the problem and tell them how to fix it.

The service manager said he thinks it might be a poor weld in the wheel arch panel or something along those lines.

So now I have to take it back again. Not happy.
Just an update on this if anyone is interested.

This is the third time my car has been back to the dealer - finally they have found the problem after having it since Thursday morning. (They were going back and forth with VWA trying to diagnose the issue).

Apparently the problem is a part in the suspension - dealer mentioned something about where the shock absorber meets the body. Anyway they have ordered the part and it should be arriving tomorrow so I should get the Polo back tomorrow afternoon, hopefully with no more rattles thank god.

Shock top mounts are common for this as are Bora and Golf 4. All suffered the same noise and fix

I have been to the dealer a few times and had the shock top mounts replaced twice on both sides already. My car has 40000km on the clock. Each time, the problem would go away for about 5000km before it came back. Is there a more permanent fix then just replacing the mounts? I'm getting tired of leaving my car at the dealership! I'm guessing getting new suspension (like coilovers) doesn't fix the problem?

So I'm guessing if I get my H&R Springs installed, and the noise comes back, they won't fix the problem, will they?
