    hey guys

Newish polo gti had for 3 months or so now

rattle in front left of the car somewhere, i think it might be the adjustment lever next to the left passenger seat

and rattle in rear right somewhere..arghhh

drives me nuts! i thought they were meant to be solid!

can anyone recommend someone fixing these rattles in Sydney? Im not keen on taking it to the dealer as I reackon they wouldnt "find the fault" or make things worse when it comes to things like this

    thanks everyone

I had a rattle on the left hand side

It went in for warranty 4 times to look for it they changed the glove box lid, window regulator and the door trim.

I ended up telling them i wasnt going to pick up the car until the noise
was gone so I took the technician for a drive and we found the dash was missing a bolt to a support bracket and now all fixed and im very happy.

I've only had mine for two weeks - no rattles yet. Fingers crossed

Next service I'm going to try and get them fixed hopefully. The thing that seemed to fix the rear rattle was few hours on skidpan, dunno what it did. But worked. Front still as bad

hey jmac, any idea why there would be rattling coming from what seems to be within the center aircon vents?

it is not going to drive me up the wall, but i dont think it should be there..... i dont like my air vents farting every now and then, and blowing it directly in my face

I have an early 06 gti 5700km full dealer serviced and have rattles i have come to live with them i open the window and the turbo and exhaust sounds make em go away my mon fri work car is a yaris and i think it has less rattles but i know what car i like to drive most. This and the gearbox problems others have had are the only things i dont like about my polo .I have not driven on rough roads mainly freeway .May be i should find a nice rough road and see what happens maybe the rattles will rattle away?

Was wondering whether there is a long term solution to this problem. I've had rattles since about 5000km, and am on about 30000km now. I've had both rear mounts changed under warranty at around 15000km, but the rattle came back after 5000km at around 20000km. I've since added rear sway bar .. would that affect the mount geometry and make the problem worse? Do you guys reckon the dealer will do another warranty claim if I leave the sway bar on...

Sorry to bump and old thread.

I've had a rattle in the rear left of my GTI, up somewhere near the back window/pillar.

Its more of a creak than a rattle actually. It only started about a month after I bought the car and is progressively getting worse. (I've had the car almost 4 months)

Took it in for complementary inspection, they changed the rear seat striker plate (whatever that is) and it was still creaking.

Took it again today as they said they needed a full day to diagnose and fix the problem. I get a call about 1pm saying they've pulled all the panels out and checked everything and they can't find the cause of the problem. They've spoken to VWA and asked them to diagnose the problem and tell them how to fix it.

The service manager said he thinks it might be a poor weld in the wheel arch panel or something along those lines.

So now I have to take it back again. Not happy.

I have done MANY panel adjustments on Polo to alleviate the creaks. I have found where the floor panel meets the inner sill panel they overlap. After loads of hours diagnosing this i proceeded to lift the trims, carpet and hit the said area with a piece of wood and hammer to adjust and it was gone . So yeah panel creaks are a big thing i have found. It sound exactly like the striker or a trim maybe but did end up being the panelling.
Had Porsches do the same so dont worry that its a cursed polo fault , it isnt.

I think the creaking coming from the passenger side lower door area might be a panel thing like you've discovered. It always sounded like a body flex issue as I'll only hear it whenever I accelerate from a stationary position.

i think thats normal, i test drove a demo polo with 1,500km and it makes that sound, its not very audible but if you carefully listen to it you can slightly hear it. but as i have found out my car makes that noise louder... Doesnt make the noise when im Reversing now which is good... but still when im moving forward.
