After reading on this forum about the gearbox problem i think if a dsg gti came out i would buy it and sell my car. I have done 5690km and its a early 2006 i thought vw was as reliable as a jap car in the drivetrain i dont use it every week but once a month i give it a run. I dont change real fast 1st to 2nd and not at over 4500. Will full load in 1st or 2nd under full throttle but not slamming the change break the gear box ?Does any oils help or fix problem?

If there really is an audible sound that is unusual, take it to the dealer, tell them you are on a VW forum and you are very, very aware of the issues with GTI gearboxes (so they don't b******t you and fob you off as they will) and make it clear you want it checked out and you won't go away.

The DSG is far from troublefree. Even on this forum there is a number of guys having issues (some major ones as well) with their DSG boxes. Also, replacing a DSG box out of warranty will cost more than $16000 whereas a GTI manual box will be about $4000.Current: 2023 MY23 T-Roc R Lapiz Blue + Beats Audio + Black pack 2018 MY19 Golf R manual Lapiz Blue + DAP) 2018 MY18 Golf 110TSI (150TSI) Trendline manual White2014 Amarok TSI Red (tuned over 200kw + lots of extras) 2013 Up! manual Red 2017 Polo GTI manual Black Previous VWs and some others ...

The gear changes for me are pretty much silent since they did the gearbox oil recall. Have you checked if your car fell under the recall? If you are hearing noises, take it to the dealer.NickZ
